Sony on Virtua Tennis 4 & PlayStation Move, Hits PS3 Spring 2011

250°
203w ago - SCEE Blog Manager James Gallagher has shared details on Virtua Tennis 4 and PlayStation Move today, and confirmed it will be hitting the PS3 entertainment system in Spring 2011.

To quote: I recently spoke to the game's Executive Producer, Mie Kumagai, and asked why she had chosen to develop a tennis game when she served us the first in the Virtua Tennis series, back in 1999.

"When we first started the series, we wanted to make a casual arcade game that everyone could pick up and enjoy," she said.

"Sport seemed like a good place to start because it appeals to many people that wouldn't usually play games. That was the start of the series, but we reached a point where we were looking for something new; it's around this time that we heard about PlayStation Move."

Virtua Tennis 4 lets you step into the shoes of some of the world's best tennis pros. Every swing of the racquet can be performed with the PlayStation Move motion controller and you can judge the approach of the ball better than ever, thanks to stereoscopic 3D support. I asked Kumagai for her thoughts on Move and her philosophy behind working with a motion controller.

"I saw PlayStation Move at quite an early stage in its development," she replied, "and I remember being curious...

They all have connections to the [Register or Login to view links] – but what those connections are, and what they mean with regard to a man named Kazuma Kiryu, is just one part of what will truly make things interesting.

We'd also like to confirm what we feel is important news for our fans: the Hostess Clubs will be returning in Yakuza 4!

Finally, we'd like to let you guys field questions to the man whose name goes hand in hand with the Yakuza (or Ryu Ga Gotoku in Japan) series himself: [Register or Login to view links]!...

PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap Hits PSP via PSN This Spring and More!

50°
227w ago - Q-Games Ltd President and Executive Producer Dylan Cuthbert has unveiled today news that PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap is coming to PSP via PSN this Spring and PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe is heading to UMD.

To quote: I'm here to make it official and let everyone know that we will be releasing PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap on the PlayStation Network this Spring.

So, to recap for those who haven't seen the various blogged reports on it, PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap is a bit of a fan service really - we went back to the original Racers and added Trophies, but we didn't want to just stop there (just adding the bare minimum isn't really what we do).

So we added a whole new feature - ghost attack. What this does is record how you played whenever you register a new score on the high score tables, so anyone else in the world (including your friends of course) can play against you, trying to best your score.

On top of that we made the single-player tournament a little easier to complete, so you can open up the ghost attack and various party modes even more quickly (and of course gain those Trophies more easily too!).

Just to go on the record - this game *isn't* really a racing game. It's as much a racing game as, say, Rally-X was back in the day, really.

Video: Blade Kitten Coming to PlayStation 3 via PSN This Spring

231w ago - Krome Studios Creative Director Steve Stamatiadis has revealed alongside a trailer video that Blade Kitten is coming exclusively to PlayStation 3 via PSN this Spring.

To quote: I'm the creator and director of [Register or Login to view links]' new game, [Register or Login to view links], a brand new hi-def, high-action PS3 game coming to the PlayStation Network in the Spring.

I'm sure all of you often get asked "WTF is a Blade Kitten?" I know I rdo all the time.

No? Then I guess I should tell you the tale of a catgirl, her sword and a blobby alien critter thing. A sordid past.

Sometime in the latter part of the 20th Century I was working on a bunch of ideas for comics and games. I'd start reusing elements that I thought were really cool, like alien species, characters, mecha, weapons, until eventually realizing I was creating a universe that they all shared.

Then around 2001 - not long after we had started work on TY the Tasmanian Tiger – I found I had three different ideas that each had elements I liked but none had ALL the elements I wanted. One was too cartoony (a super powered anime schoolgirl), the other was too serious (Space Gladiators with guns) and the third was an aborted...
