Dead Rising 2: Psycho, Ninja, Sports, Soldier DLC Coming to PSN

219w ago - Senior Producer Josh Bridge has revealed today that Dead Rising 2: Psycho, Ninja, Sports, and Soldier DLC are all coming soon to PSN.

To quote: As a huge zombie lover, I am really pumped to see us able to get Dead Rising series out to PS3 owners. Everyone deserves the right to slice a zombie in two!

Developing the game for the PS3 was something that we started right at the beginning of our development process. We are not fans of porting, and wanted to be sure that we maximized the PS3's capabilities.

Our development tools allow us to be platform agnostic while at the same time maximize the power of the Cell processor. The zombies are handled by the SPUs, allowing us to throw tons of them onscreen while still managing their movement and AI.

We also have have lots of cool processing effects going, something that was also made possible by the PS3′s SPUs.

We have tons of stuff to mess around with in Dead Rising 2, and having a huge amount of disc space to use really allowed us to get everything we wanted into the game. Installing the game definitely speeds up load times, something that made developing for the PS3 a great experience.

We also have some cool DLC coming up that we got a kick out of making. We really liked the idea of customizing Chuck,...

Coming to PSN Tuesday: Sports Champions Haunted PS3 DLC

219w ago - Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios Producer Jeremy Ray has revealed today that Sports Champions Haunted PS3 DLC is coming to PSN this Tuesday.

To quote: Let me bring you back in time to E3 2009, where we debuted a little tech demo for a brand new motion control platform, later to become what we now all know and love as the PlayStation Move.

In the tech demo you could sword fight with a skeleton (anyone remember tickling the skeleton's chin with the sword blade?), use dual handed throwing stars, and shoot arrows at an endless parade of skeletons. Most of the mechanics in the demo were the basis of a title that was, at the time, only a work in progress, but would become Sports Champions.

Well, our skeletons have finally been let out of the closet again with a brand new Sports Champions DLC pack called the Haunted Pack, available for sale through the PlayStation Store on Tuesday, October 5 for $4.99. The new content includes three new frightful characters that are playable in all six events, as well as new spooky equipment for each of the sports.

New Characters:

•Specter
•Deadmund
•Numbskull

New Equipment:

•Disc Golf - Phantom Disc Set
•Bocce - Skull Bocce Set
•Table Tennis...

Video: Sports Champions Table Tennis on PlayStation Move

222w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has made available a video today spotlighting Sports Champions Table Tennis on PlayStation Move for the PS3 entertainment system.

To quote: If you've previously played a tennis or ping pong video game, you might have an idea of what it's like to play Table Tennis in Sports Champions. You might also be wrong

We wanted to wrap up Sports Champions Week with Table Tennis, because what might seem to be a very basic game proves itself to be quite complex when you factor in the precision of PlayStation Move.

In this video, producer Jeremy Ray demonstrates how the paddle is replicated in 3 dimensions, X, Y, and Z-axis tracking, and also shows off multiplayer and how you too can fend off a robot attack with ping pong balls.

That concludes Sports Champions Week, which will be available in the PlayStation Move bundle this very weekend. If you missed them, please take a look at our Archery, Gladiator Duel, and Disc Golf videos. The final game also includes Bocce and Beach Volleyball.

Video: Sports Champions Disc Golf for PlayStation Move on PS3

222w ago - Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared a video today spotlighting Sports Champions Disc Golf for PlayStation Move on PS3.

To quote: I've played disc golf once before, and the course wasn't anywhere near as nice as the one in Sports Champions.

After the rapid, manic action found in Gladiator Duel, an event like Disc Golf is a fun, relaxing way to wind down. That calmer place doesn't mean that it doesn't take full advantage of the PlayStation Move technology, however.

Producer Jeremy Ray shows us why Sports Champions presents the best "[Register or Login to view links]" experience you've ever seen in a video game.

I particularly like how you're not going through pre-determined motions - if you want to underhand toss your disc into the goal, you're free to do it (and it's a pretty good technique from 20 feet and under).

We wrap up Sports Champions week tomorrow with Table Tennis.

222w ago - Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared the second video in their Sports Champions series today, this time spotlighting Gladiator Duel on the PlayStation Move PS3 motion controller.

To quote: Sports Champions Week continues here on the Blog with the hack 'n' slash action of Gladiator Duel.

In the Move demonstrations we've given at trade shows and Move meetups, Gladiator Duel has been the event that people have gravitated to immediately.

And it's easy to see why - bashing your friends in a head to head battle with one-to-one tracking is pretty awesome. Producer Jeremy Ray walks us through the features:

More than any other Sports Champions event, Gladiator Duel is the one that's going to get that heart rate up and a bit of a sweat going. Tomorrow we'll continue Sports Champions week with the comparatively mellow Disc Golf (a personal fave of mine).
