Sony on What's New in Rocketbirds: Hard Boiled Chicken for PS Vita

108w ago - Today Sony Producer and Studio Head Sian Yue Tan has shared what is new in Rocketbirds: Hard Boiled Chicken for PS Vita, which is taking flight in 2013.

Below are the details, to quote: It's my pleasure to tell you that Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken is coming to the PS Vita in the first quarter of 2013!

[Register or Login to view links], our cinematic platform adventure game, has come a long way from its three IGF finalist nominations back in 2010. Since then, we listened to people's feedback and vastly improved the game for its PS3 release in October 2011.

That version had more technical improvements than we could shake a stick at; we made it fast and included stereoscopic 3D, added a new Jet Pack mode, a two-player couch co-op campaign and polished the heck out of it.

We received more great feedback, so when it came down to the PS Vita version, we jumped at the opportunity to iterate on the game once more. We added things like new chapters, puzzles and humor; a unique new Hardboiled difficulty setting; improvements to the controls to utilize the PS Vita's unique features; and improved connectivity for the cooperative campaign.

From the beginning, I've really wanted to include...

Video: Rock Band Blitzes Onto PlayStation Network Tomorrow

50°
121w ago - Project Director Matthew Nordhaus has announced today that Rock Band Blitz is heading to PlayStation Network tomorrow and has shared a new video trailer below.

To quote: There's a moment during game development when you have to let go of your game and release it to the world.

You're sitting in your office, thinking about all of the choices you made, wondering whether people will find it fun, engaging, beautiful, scary, funny. Is your vision going to be realized? And then you take a deep breath and let it go.

How do I know? I'm the Project Director for [Register or Login to view links], and for me that moment came about two months ago. I guided the development of the game over the course of the last year.

The creative, smart, talented team that made Rock Band Blitz can't wait for you to play the game on your console and see, at long last, the result of all of our hard work.

Rock Band Blitz is a downloadable PlayStation Network game. It's the latest entry in the Rock Band family, and rather than using plastic instruments you play with a standard DualShock 3 controller.

At its core, it's still a rhythm beat-match game: you smash notes in time with the music. But in contrast to the full band experience of traditional...

Video: Play Real Guitar on Your PlayStation 3 with Rocksmith

145w ago - Creative Director Paul Cross of the Rocksmith Team has shared a video today demonstrating how to play real guitar on your PlayStation 3 with Rocksmith.

To quote: My name is Paul Cross and I am the Creative Director on the [Register or Login to view links] Team.

My previous projects include Burnout, Skate and No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle - and I want give you a little bit of background on Rocksmith, a music game that lets you plug a real guitar into your PS3 and play along to a great list of well-known rock songs when it comes to Europe this September.

The project started in early 2008 when [Register or Login to view links] started talking to a company called Game Tank. These guys had a tech demo that allowed the player to plug in any real guitar into a PS3, and the game would tell them if they were playing the right notes at the right times. Ubisoft liked the demo so much that they bought the company!

When Nao Higo, Sr. Producer and I first started on what was to become Rocksmith in October 2009, it was a tech demo called 'Guitar Rising' that featured sideways scrolling tablature and a number of difficulty levels you could select from. Here's a promo vid of Guitar Rising from way back in the day:
