249w ago - Konami Online's Brandon Laurino announced the following Metal Gear Online SCENE Expansion release date and details today via PS Blog:
We're happy to announce the official release date and more details about the SCENE Expansion pack for Metal Gear Online.
SCENE will be available separately for $9.99 and offered as a bundle with the second MGO Expansion pack, MEME, for $14.99 as well as all three expansion packs - GENE, MEME, and SCENE, for just $17.99 on March 17, 2009 via Metal Gear Online's in-game shop and Konami's shop.
All will be available for purchase using the PlayStation Network Wallet (as well as PayPal, in addition to the previous payment methods). The pre-order period for SCENE starts on March 10, 2009, and will run up until release date.
I know many of you are curious to know each of the new special character's (Raiden and Vamp) weapons and abilities, as both characters display incredible talents in the Metal Gear Solid 4 single player campaign. You'll be happy to know that many of their same abilities will be available in Metal Gear Online.
And remember, all players who pre-order SCENE will receive the special "cardboard...
251w ago - It has recently surfaced that a Diablo III fan site has jumped to the conclusion that Blizzard has somehow "confirmed" Diablo III's release for 2010.
They've made this assessment based on Blizzard's recent announcement that it is planning to release one "frontline" title per year, just as it has in the past.
Expansion packs like The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King could easily fall under this very definition, based on both their pricing and the amount of content they have to offer.
While it is more than likely that Starcraft II will be released this year based on the fact that it is going into Beta very soon, as with everything Blizzard has ever done, nothing can be certain until they make the actual announcement.
With that said, even if Starcraft II comes out this year, there's absolutely no guarantee that Diablo III will be their next game.
The fact remains that World of Warcraft remains an extremely popular title, and the possibility for the release of yet another, perhaps final expansion pack is almost certainly guaranteed.
Beyond World of Warcraft, Blizzard has already announced plans for two Starcraft II expansion packs which...
260w ago - Once again, John Curry and Rod Oracheski are back to tell us what they think about some of the week's most important video game news and issues. To quote:
Fact or Fiction: Final Fantasy XIII will come out in 2009.
John Curry: Fact
I want to say fiction. God, I hope the Final Fantasy series dies a slow and painful death so that I can laugh at it for all times, but the truth is that there is still a group of diehard freaks out there who are as loyal to the FF series as the Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering nerds and will force the release of Final Fantasy XIII in the next year.
When that happens, be prepared to listen to all of them whine about why it isn't a PS3 exclusive and, more importantly, how all of those who review the game are idiots because they didn't state that the game was the greatest thing ever made.
Rod Oracheski: Fact
It seems to be on track for the Japanese release, and I can't see the localization taking all that long. They've gotten pretty good at it over the years, at least on the speed side of things (there are still the odd wonky translations here and there). Will Versus XIII make it out in 2009? That one I'm not sure I'd bet on.
Fact or Fiction: The Spike Video Game Awards show is starting...
262w ago - Tonight, X-Play brought you the release date for Killzone 2, the highly-anticipated FPS from Guerrilla Games and Sony!
That date: February 27, 2009 for the United States. There is no word on other territories yet. There were a lot of rumors about the 17th, but it will be 10 days later. Get your pre-orders in!
X-Play also revealed two new weapons: the Bolt Gun and the Flamethrower, which can both be seen in the following video:
The end of the video also sports the official announcement of the release date if you don't believe me!
Below is another Killzone 2 video interview on the game's robust multiplayer component including details about the games innovative "Warzone" gametype!
The "Warzone" gametype, which can be seen in the video, rotates through all the available gametypes as the match plays out. It could start as a team deathmatch game that transitions to a capture & hold game as one team gains a foothold. Score too many points and you could find yourself the target of a VIP assassination game.
262w ago - Narrowing the vague 2009 release date initially provided for Ghostbusters, publisher Atari has now revealed that the anticipated classic movie tie-in will arrive next June.
The date was announced during Atari's press event today, with MCV publishing the news.
It was not specified if the date applies to North America and Europe or just EU, though both territories are seeing near-simultaneous releases of major titles.
The Ghostbusters game is slated to hit PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 care of developer Terminal Reality, with Red Fly Studios handling the PS2, Wii and Nintendo DS editions.
Ghostbusters was originally slated for release this fall, but that changed when the game was dropped by former publisher Sierra after it merged with Activision. Atari picked up publishing rights for the title last month.
