228w ago - UFG Game Designer William Ho has shared a video today dubbed ModNation Racers PS3 - Your Racing Career Begins Now!

To quote: Today, I'm going to reveal some details about the single-player Career Mode in ModNation Racers.

You are Tag, a young graffiti artist turned kart racer who enters the Mod Racing Championship (MRC for short). Tag starts off as a rookie in the Home Tour.

As he wins races, he unlocks more rewards and qualifies for higher-level tours that take him to exotic races all over [Register or Login to view links]. Along the way, you're pitted against the MRC's Elite Racers. Each Elite has his or her unique visual style and driving style suited to their respective home tracks.

The Career Mode is both simple and deep. It's simple in that you can blaze your way to the top of the MRC rankings by placing third or better in most races. We also have "Big Show" races – the finales for each Tour – that require you to finish in first place to qualify for the next Tour. Racking up top finishes also gets you lots of unlocks. You'll win plenty of parts, stickers, bodies, buildings, props and more to use in your custom creations.

But for more dedicated racers, we've also added...

235w ago - United Front Games Designer Mat Thomas has made available a video today dunbbed 'Redesigning Kart Racing' and showcasing ModNation Racers for the PS3 entertainment system.

To quote: Mat from [Register or Login to view links] here to end your week on a high note with our latest trailer and a peek into some of the thought behind the sweet racing action we've built into ModNation Racers!

First and foremost when developing a racer, the key thing to outline is what the experience needs to be. As I have mentioned in my previous blog post, we worked through how we wanted the core driving experience to feel.

Many development team members here at United Front Games have worked on several different racing games. Our focus is quite simple - we wanted the handling to be tight and fun but allow the power of the PS3 to take kart handling to the next level with a more physical driving model.

While we appreciate the simple arcade handling, we soon understood that if we were going to deliver the best race experience with our Track Studio tools, then we had to give the player a deeper handling model.

Drive Well & Get BOOST

While we developed our core handling model we also realized we needed...

237w ago - Halfbrick's Phil Larsen has shared a video today showcasing Rocket Racing which will be coming to PSN as a PS3 and PSP Mini game next week.

To quote: [Register or Login to view links] is the next title to hit PSP minis from Halfbrick, and I'm excited to announce that it will be released next Thursday, March 11.

Rocket Racing has been developed from the ground up, combining high-speed futuristic racing with classic top-down gameplay, which is a perfect fit for minis.

Each track has been designed with a unique twist, suspended high in the air above the clouds and cityscapes to give players a light and almost surreal feeling as they drift around the crisp, detailed courses.

Challenge Mode is the main backbone of gameplay, giving players a number of tasks to complete over six different tiers. Completing once challenge with its specific objectives will unlock adjacent challenges along the tier, so players can choose their own path to the final race.

A key part of racing is the ability to grind. Grinding is a new concept which involves positioning your rockets against the outer walls of the tracks. This opposing force will give you a speed boost as well...

Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing PS3 Demo Out Now on PSN

50°
239w ago - Today Online Community Manager Kevin Eva has announced Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing PS3 demo is now available on PSN.

To quote: I'm pleased to confirm that the PSN demo of Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing is now available for you to download.

The SUMO Digital team have been working hard to provide a truly luscious visual experience and you'll be able to get a taste of what All-Star Racing action is all about.

The PlayStation 3 has its own track not available on any other platform's demo which is based off of Blizzard Castle from Billy Hatcher & The Giant Egg.

The track called Rampart Road has you quite literally racing all over the castle itself as you avoid rolling eggs, heavy snow drifts and devious crows - they may look like cats but they are indeed crows!

You'll have two characters to play in the demo, Sonic The Hedgehog (obviously) and Dr. Eggman, their vehicles have their own specific traits - try both of them and see.

As an FYI, you can alter the difficulty settings, the demo should be set to "Advanced" from the get go but you can reduce this to Basic if you find the action a little too intense.

Master drifting around corners and pull off aerial tricks to get a speed boost. Use the range of weapons available to...
