Sony PSP and PS Vita Sale Starts Today on PlayStation Network

50°
51w ago - Sony PS Store and Plus Content Manager Chris Howe announced that the next PSP and PS Vita sale starts today on PlayStation Network.

To quote: It's been quite a ride so far as we have worked our way through the consoles that have made the PlayStation brand a global phenomenon.

But our story would not be complete without taking a look at our handheld platforms. The PSP revolutionized portable gaming with amazing screen, robust multimedia capabilities and connectivity with our other Sony platforms. But what we all really love are games, and the PSP produced some real classics.

Our very own God of War: Chains of Olympus tops it for me but how can we forget Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, WipEout Pure and Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions. What a great library.

That brings us to our latest console, the PS Vita. Now in terms of lifespan, PS Vita is just a youngster, so what we want to know from you is what your best moments with it have been so far? This magical piece of kit is here to stay and it's only going to get better with the PS4!

Personally I love playing FIFA 13 on its crystal clear screen; it passes the time brilliantly on my journey to and from PlayStation HQ every day. I am also eagerly awaiting the release...

Critter Crunch and Everyday Shooter on Sale Today for $0.99 Each

50°
53w ago - Everyday Shooter Creator Jonathan Mak announced today that Critter Crunch and Everyday Shooter are on sale today for $0.99 each.

To quote: This week, Toronto-based developers (and good friends) Queasy Games & Capy are putting their classic PSN titles on sale.

To mark this occasion, Jon decided to dust off the actual guitar used to create the tunes in Everyday Shooter and jam out the games' first track, alongside our cuddly orange friend from Critter Crunch.

Everyday Shooter & Critter Crunch may be markedly different games that took alternate paths onto the PlayStation Store, but they share a lot in common. Here's a little bit about why these games are important to their creators/teams:

Five years ago I released my first game, Everyday Shooter, in which you play through an album of musical [Register or Login to view links], where every sound effect is a guitar riff or note harmonizing over an all-guitar soundtrack. So as you play the game, it feels like you're jamming along with the music. Each level/song/track has a different vibe, look, sound and gameplay mechanic - kind of like how songs on an album flow through different moods.

At least that's what it is for most people. In actuality the game was built on ten years'...

Sony Announces PS2 Sale Starts Today on PlayStation Network

50°
55w ago - Sony's Jawad Ashraf of the PlayStation Store Team announced today that their PS2 Sale starts today on PlayStation Network.

To quote: Hi everyone! Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone that has shared a favourite memory from the PSone era over the last two weeks. It's great to hear after all this time that there is still such a passion for such a groundbreaking piece of hardware!

Onwards and upward though! Next, PlayStation 2. Released way back in late 2000, PlayStation 2 was the home of some of the best games ever, with all-time greats such as, Kingdom Hearts, God of War, ICO, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy X, Tekken 5, Grand Theft Auto III and many, many more.

With over 150 million units sold (and counting), PS2 is to this day still regarded as one of the finest gaming machines ever created.

PlayStation 2 was the first home console I could claim as my own. My parents were quite anti-gaming and were convinced it'd melt my brain, so I'd only really play games when I snuck to the arcades with my brothers.

However, after a lot of begging (and saving my lunch money), I was finally able to get one for my birthday. My first game was Tekken Tag Tournament. Sadly I didn't have a memory card for a while, so I'd barely experience...
