12w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements has went hands-on today with Child of Light PS4 for the upcoming PlayStation 4 video gaming console.
To quote: With a small build, dainty crown, and a sword too big too wield, Aurora is an unlikely heroine for an adventure. And yet how perfect a character, and champion, for Ubisoft's upcoming JRPG tribute, Child of Light.
This dazzling array of fantasy aims to open the gates to the world of JRPGs for all gamers, welcoming both long-time enthusiasts and complete newcomers.
It's disarmingly beautiful, lacquered in charm, complexly elegant, and even a little haunting. It's scheduled for launch sometime in 2014, on PS3 and PS4.
Aurora, our star of the show, is a petite fairy of a girl, and daughter to a duke from Austria. She finds herself in a mysterious land called Lemuria, enjoying the company of an agile little flame named Igniculus. Her adventures to defeat the Black Queen will take her through a host of mystic environs in search of answers and, more importantly, home.
Child of Light is built with the same engine that powers Ubisoft's recent Rayman games: the dazzling UbiArt Framework. This means Child of light is built with layer upon layer of breathtaking, HD artwork. The characters and scenery move and leap...
13w ago - Evolution Studios Community Development Manager Jamie Brayshaw is here with some fresh PS4 videos for the weekend showcasing Driveclub 1080p footage on PlayStation 4 below!
To quote: Thanks to everyone that played the DRIVECLUB demo at Gamescom! There were some blindingly quick racers, and even though my team weren't the fastest overall, we earned the most fame points to win the challenge.
So that means that the Gamescom trailer plays out with "Like A Boss" winning, which I'm obviously very happy about! Also, in case you were wondering, the music track is Be Here Now by Hybrid (The Qemists remix).
The reaction we got at the show was fantastic, with over a thousand people trying the demo each day. I spoke to a lot of people playing the game and the key thing that stood out and really connected with people was the concept of "always having something to play for" and "always contributing to the success of your club."
The fastest racers loved that they could aim for first place on the leaderboard and still play over and above that to beat every challenge in every event.
13w ago - Ubisoft Community Developer Nik Schmidt posted up a video today showcasing player freedom and PS4 multiplayer functionality in Watch_Dogs on PlayStation 4 below.
To quote: In the latest Watch_Dogs video below, we get a first look at some of the experiences you'll encounter when free-roaming through Chicago.
While the main storyline is packed with great missions and intriguing characters, there are plenty of unique scenarios you'll encounter while simply exploring the world. Let's have a look at some of them.
At the beginning of the video, Animation Director Colin Graham says that what we see is not a mission, but rather a part of the living city experience that's only offered in Watch_Dogs.
All the activities you see above are, as he says, totally systemic, and can happen at any time and in any place. As the player, you have total freedom to engage with them or not, and you can do so in any way you want.
But remember, your actions will be recorded throughout the campaign, and they'll have consequences. And as Colin mentions, the AI is totally unpredictable, so a single variable can trigger a foot chase, a violent altercation, a car chase, etc.
13w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton shared an exclusive look at the PS4 UI and social features today led by Shuhei Yoshida on its ease of use.
To quote: One of the most memorable moments from our Gamescom press conference was surely the sight of Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida taking the gathered audience on a tour of the new PS4 user interface, live on stage, from the comfort of a big leather armchair.
If you haven't seen it yet, please do take a look at the video below to see him hop seamlessly from the PS4 home screen into a livecast of a friend playing Killzone: Shadow Fall, before joining that game and then, finally, sending a screenshot of the session straight out to his Twitter feed.
PlayStation.Blog caught up with Yoshida-san the morning after the show to go into a little more detail on the PS4 UI, and find out what he's most excited for players to see come November 15th.
PlayStation.Blog: Obviously not many people have used the PS4 UI yet, so can you tell us a little bit about how it feels?
13w ago - Spry Fox CEO David Edery announced today that roguelike puzzle game Road Not Taken is coming to PS4 and PS Vita in 2014 alongside a video trailer below.
To quote: Hi folks! It's an honor to be posting here for the first time. I'm the co-founder of a studio called Spry Fox.
We've made some well-known mobile and PC games such as Steambirds, Triple Town, and Realm of the Mad God. I'm super excited to announce that our next title - an original puzzle game called Road Not Taken - will be launching on PS4 and PS Vita in early 2014!
Road Not Taken is a game about life's surprises, both positive and negative. In our take on Robert Frost's poem of the same name, you wander through a mysterious forest in the aftermath of a large snowstorm.
As you explore, you'll come across wild animals, impassable barriers, and lost children. Road Not Taken explores the question: "What happens when life's events throw you off the path you expected to take?" It's been a lot of fun for us to try and stretch the ideas that games can tackle!
In terms of gameplay, you can think of Road Not Taken as a puzzle roguelike.
You can play for dozens of hours, and no two sessions will ever be quite alike.
Each game is full of unexpected surprises and dangers,...
