18w ago - Q-Games Producer James Mielke shared a video below today spotlighting the new PS3 Visualizer application from Q-Games which arrives this Tuesday.
To quote: Hi everyone! It's been a while but I'm back for a second tour of duty on PlayStation.Blog, although I should point out that I switched Qs in the interim (I was formerly a producer at Q Entertainment, and am now a producer at Q-Games).
The reason for my check-in here today is to announce a brand-new app (you'll find it in the 'Apps' section on PSN) for PlayStation 3 simply titled Visualizer, which, as the name suggests, is a new set of over two dozen music visualizers to use with your PS3's music library.
As you may know, Q-Games is known for its technological contributions to the games industry, in addition to its PixelJunk series of games. Q (initially Dylan Cuthbert and Kentaro Yoshida) crafted the legendary duck demo for the original PlayStation 2 reveal, and later as a company were responsible for a lot of the visual effects, XMB bar, and visualizers built in to the PlayStation 3. Q-Games also handled a lot of the interface programming on PS Vita, so, essentially, we know our way around Sony's hardware.
18w ago - Namco Bandai Games Public Relations Specialist Nick O'Leary announced that Tales of Xillia is out today and exclusive to the PS3 entertainment system.
To quote: I have great news to tell you all: Tales of Xillia is now available exclusively for PS3 in North America, both at retail and digitally on PlayStation Store.
Do you like adventure, over-worlds, mana, warring nations, great spirits, lesser spirits, upgradable shops, real-time battles, lovable characters, and huge bosses?
Tales of Xillia has all those things, and more! Do you start to involuntarily shake with giddiness at the mere mention of a wyvern? Buddy, you better sit down, because we've got MULTIPLE WYVERNS!
Not only that, but Tales of Xillia also has two main protagonists. On one side we have Jude Mathis, a bright medical student attending the university in the capital city of Fennmont.
On the other side you have Milla Maxwell, a mysterious woman who travels with four spirits and will stop at nothing to accomplish her mission. You get to choose whose side of the story you want to see, complete with unique cutscenes and events complementing each campaign.
Fortunately, both heroes give you access to the thrilling...
19w ago - Activision Community Manager Dan Amrich made available a video today announcing that Vengeance is here for Call of Duty: Black Ops II on PS3.
To quote: One of the reasons I keep coming back to Call of Duty is the fast action - and the action is fastest on maps that really encourage interaction.
When you know all the players are packed tightly together - when every corner you turn can lead to a high-caliber engagement - that's when the game is the most fun for me.
And I think it's why maps like Studio, Hijacked, and Nuketown 2025 are voted up so frequently in multiplayer lobbies.
The four multiplayer maps in the latest Call of Duty: Black Ops II DLC collection, Vengeance, were designed for players like me - folks who don't want to run around forever before they get someone in their sights.
That cuts both ways: I know when I get caught in someone else's sights, it won't be long before I'm back in the action. That's certainly true on Cove, which strands players on a small tropical island - a beautiful place for a vacation, if the vacation didn't look like it might last forever.
With just natural rock formations for cover, the debris of a recent plane crash, and endless ocean surrounding you on all sides, there's no avoiding...
19w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements posted up a video today spotlighting fighting together in Dragon's Crown on PS3 and PS Vita below.
To quote: The kingdom is boiling in war all around you, and brigands threaten the crown just as much as the encroaching orc forces.
But you, noble adventurer, have loot to earn and treasure to find. You have swords to wield and spells to sling! Welcome to Dragon's Crown. Your adventure begins next week.
Dragon's Crown, from the developers at Vanillaware, follows in the footsteps of Odin Sphere and Muramasa Rebirth. It blends eye-popping, hand-drawn animation with RPG-fueled combat.
An ambitious project, Dragon's Crown features six characters for players to select, and a bevy of stages to fight through. Though there are chests to open and skills to learn, the combat in Dragon's Crown is more like a side-scrolling brawler. A brawler you can invite your friends to!
Dragon's Crown encourages four-player cooperative play on both PS3 and PS Vita. You and your fellow adventurers can brave the dark and dangerous labyrinths together, building characters to complement each other's skills, or tempting fate with difficult combinations. Want to dive into a dungeon with four wizards?...
20w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman is here with a video showcasing The Last of Us Multiplayer on PlayStation 3 which includes 24 survival tips below.
To quote: Two things. First, The Last of Us has a multiplayer mode called Supply Raid that is the freshest, most addictive mode I've experienced in years. Second, I apologize for not posting this guide weeks ago - I've been playing way, way too much TLOU!
The Last of Us differs from other multiplayer games in many ways. It's stealthy, ammo and resources are scarce, and teamwork is absolutely vital. What's more, your total kills take a backseat to Parts - a currency that you can spend on weapon upgrades, ammo, power weapons, and armor.
All of which are capable of evening the odds in a match. You score Parts by downing and executing enemy players, but also reviving teammates, healing friends, and crafting and distributing items.
This tip guide will focus primarily on Supply Raid, which is TLOU's answer to the venerable Team Deathmatch. Stick around for some tips we solicited from Twitter, and leave your own tips in the comments below!
Upgrade melee ASAP. The upgraded two-by-four is the ultimate equalizer, and you'll want it right away. It's...
