To quote: I've started work on a platformer for PS3. The gameplay is (currently) 2D but it has 3D graphics making it the first 3D thing I've made for PS3 since switching from the official SDK to PSL1GHT.

The art assets are all placeholder. This will NOT be a Mario clone by the time I'm done with it.

The character model used for the player was made by Bubles Studio.

PS3 controls:

  • Left analog stick = Move
  • X = Jump

128w ago - Just over a month ago we reported on PlayStation (PSX / PSOne) Games working on PS3 3.55 CFW, and today PlayStation 3 developer CrashSerious has released a homebrew application called One which allows users to run PSX game discs on PS3 3.55 or 3.41 MFW Modified Firmware.

The initial version 0.1 is also followed by an update (above) that also supports gamesaves.

To quote: Tonight, to celebrate the last binary date of the century. We bring you a update to one.

Simply, it updates memory card support and works on the following systems:

  • 3.55 MFW Retail/CEX
  • 3.41 MFW Retail/CEX
  • 3.15 MFW Retail/CEX
  • 3.55 MFW Debug/DEX
  • 3.41 MFW Debug/DEX
  • 3.15 MFW Debug/DEX

(Note: one uses "state of the art" firmware detection to apply patches needed, spoofing simply can not fool it.)

Now not only do memory cards work... but those of you who are on MFW 3.15 can...

To quote: Another update to Swingball 2. If you make something cool with the level editor then don’t hesitate to post it in the comments.

Notable changes:

  • Added a level editor.
  • You now have a score which is displayed at the top of the screen and decreases as time passes.
  • If you score reaches zero then you lose.
  • Your score increases when you collect the white orbs.
  • High scores are automatically saved and displayed in the level selection screen.
  • The level selection screens scrolls so it can deal with a quantity of levels that would be too large to comfortable display on screen.
  • The “automatic win” level has been made more elaborate. I added 10 place holder levels for...

128w ago - Today PlayStation 3 developer lachrymose has released a Super Mario War v1.8 PS3 port for fans of the classic homebrew game, followed by revision R2 below which allows loading game data from USB and fixes a critical bug.

To quote: I've ported the classic homebrew game, "Super Mario War" to the PlayStation 3. It is created with SDL by these awesome fellows.

For those not familiar, it's a 2D action vs game with up to 4 players. You can even have bots with quite good AI! It's a really great game to be honest. I wouldn't have ported it if it wasn't in my interest.

Everything is working from what I can tell. I only have one controller so I can't test multi-player (can someone test this for me, please?) I believe it should work. Keyboards are also supported.

Controls:

  • X - jump
  • Square - sprint/powerup
  • Start - Pause
  • Select - Exit...
