146w ago - Today SCEE's Ross McGrath of the PlayStation Store Team has announced that PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to check out an exclusive 24-hour advanced preview of the Mafia II PS3 Demo for the PlayStation 3 entertainment system.

To quote: Okays, listen up ya clowns, we gotta talk a little business over here.

We got an offer all yous wiseguys with your fancy PlayStation Plus subscriptions can't refuse.

See, from tomorrow mornin' we'll be pushin' you the brand new demo for 2K Games' Mafia II through Automatic Downloads - and because we're reasonable guys over here, we're gonna make it available to download right from the PlayStation Store too - just go find it in the PlayStation Plus section, download it, ba da bing, ba da boom, you got yourself a good way to spend some time, ah?

146w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared details today on Mafia II's PS3-exclusive DLC dubbed The Betrayal of Jimmy.

To quote: Last month, the name "Jimmy's Vendetta" leaked out, along with a list of PlayStation 3 Trophies that appeared to be from the previously-confirmed PS3-exclusive Mafia II downloadable content.

As it turns out, that DLC will be coming down the line. Before Jimmy can get going on that vendetta - he's got to be double-crossed. That, as it turns out, is the source material for The Betrayal of Jimmy DLC, available at free at launch, exclusively for the PS3 version of Mafia II.

The Betrayal of Jimmy is almost an arcade-style take on the Mafia II experience. The team took the most fun elements from the game: shooting, driving, stealing, etc in a open world, and made it a point-based romp, complete with leaderboards.

It's all about fast cars, blowing stuff up, hitting top speeds, and really taking advantage of the open city. If Mafia II is an expansive story, then The Betrayal of Jimmy is instant gratification.

Unlike in the main Mafia II storyline, you'll rack up points for drifting, high speed...

150w ago - Today GameInformer.com (linked above) via JoyStiq has revealed the PS3-exclusive DLC for 2K Games' Mafia II on the PlayStation 3 entertainment system.

The game will be set from 1945 to 1955 in Empire Bay, a fictional city based on San Francisco and New York City, with influences from Chicago and Detroit.

Mafia II for PS3 will also feature a completely open-ended game map of 10 square miles. No restrictions are included from the start of the video game, and there will be around 50 vehicles as well as music from the era.

The PS3 Trophies List for the DLC dubbed Jimmy's Vendetta paints a quick portrait of what the PlayStation 3 DLC is about, to quote:

It's what you'd expect from Mafia II: There's a guy named Jimmy involved, and there's plenty of killing and driving.

158w ago - Yesterday we saw the launch trailer for Red Dead Redemption on PS3, and today Examiner.com (linked above) has revealed that the PlayStation 3 version will be getting some exclusive content similar to what was done in Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Additionally, the rear box art indicates Red Dead Redemption will require 600MB of PS3 HDD space for the installation.

To quote: "Very similar to Batman: Arkham Asylum, which had the exclusive feature of playing as the Joker, Red Dead Redemption will also feature some exclusive to hopefully sway the consumers mind towards the PS3 version.

It did work with Batman and the title ended up outselling the Xbox 360 likely due to that reason.

The exclusive content will be Solomon's Folly Gang Hideout and Walton Gang Outfit - according to the retail box. The content is included for free and packed in the game's casing."
