The Next Evolution for PlayStation Home Coming in Fall 2011

200°
170w ago - PlayStation Home Director Jack Buser has revealed the next evolution for PlayStation Home today which will be coming in Fall 2011, as follows:

As you know, we've been working hard to fill PlayStation Home with hundreds of games - everything from pool tables and dart boards to full-on space shooters like Novus Prime: Escalation, zombie slashers like Dead Island Zombie Survivor, and massive online racing games like Sodium 2: Project Velocity.

Today we are excited to announce a complete redesign of the heart of PlayStation Home to reinforce our evolution into the ultimate social game platform on consoles today. This redesign will connect you with the world of hundreds of games in Home faster and better than ever before.

Coming in Fall 2011, this new core experience for PlayStation Home features a "hub and districts" design that will help you find games, people and places that fit your favorite game genres. The design features a new Hub that integrates games, quests, community events, and user-generated content, while providing you with additional navigation, shopping, socialization and entertainment options.

The new, futuristic Hub (shown below) brings an ever changing roster of games right to the center of Home, including Cogs from Codename: Lazy 8 Studios which will be featured...

Video: EVO 2011 Starts Tomorrow, PlayStation Home Streaming

174w ago - Capcom Community Senior Manager Seth Killian has announced today alongside a video that EVO 2011 starts tomorrow, which will also be streaming in PlayStation Home.

To quote: [Register or Login to view links] is the World Series of Fighting Games, and it's this weekend, July 29th through the 31st, in Las Vegas.

EVO has been running for over a decade, and has grown from a small gathering of friends into the biggest fighting-game event on the planet, with thousands of competitors and fans attending from dozens of countries (46 countries are represented this year!).

The best of the best come not only to win prizes, but to claim a place in fighting game history, to earn a name, and to test themselves at the highest levels.

For fighting game fans like me, it is so exciting that my body literally starts tensing this far in advance because of what I know is to come. Wonder how little kids feel when they are on their way to Disneyland? For fighting game lovers, this is that feeling.

If you've always wondered why people still talk about arcades, EVO is as close as you'll come to seeing it for yourself. It's this big space, filled with people who are – at the same time – your friends and your enemies. You can feel the thrill, excitement, and anxiety of competition...

Sony to Stream E3 2011 Live on PS3 via Home with Virtual Booth

300°
182w ago - Today PlayStation Home Community Manager Locust_Star has announced that Sony will be hosting a virtual booth and streaming E3 2011 live next week directly on the PS3 entertainment system via PlayStation Home.

To quote: With the E3 Expo just around the corner, the PlayStation Home team is happy to announce that you'll be able to be part of the convention excitement – right from your PS3!

For the first time ever, PlayStation Home will host a live public video stream of the Sony E3 press conference on Monday, June 6 at 5pm Pacific Time in a special screening room. You can watch SCEA President and CEO Jack Tretton reveal all of the big E3 announcements and watch never-before-seen footage of tons of upcoming PS3 and NGP titles.

We're also happy to confirm that the PlayStation Home E3 Virtual Booth is making a triumphant return! The virtual booth was visited by a lot of people last year (five times more people than physically attended E3 2010!), making it huge success for us and hopefully for you as well.

If you visited the booth last year, you'll remember that we enabled you to explore a virtual recreation of PlayStation's E3 booth. Expect the same this year, with a few new surprises – including a 3D-rendered NGP to inspect from every angle.
