300°
268w ago - Sony's Social Media Senior Specialist Chris Morell is back with the second part of the PS3 Motion Controller R&D Interview today.

To quote: Last week, we introduced Part I in a series of posts focusing on the recently announced PlayStation motion controller. Senior Researcher, Richard Marks, shed some light on the PlayStation Eye's camera technology and how the motion controller works.

We know you guys are eager to learn more, so this week we're talking to Anton Mikhailov, a software engineer (and right hand man to Richard Marks) in SCEA's Research & Development department. You may recognize Anton from the motion controller demonstration at this year's E3 presentation.

Anton was gracious enough to break down the new controller's PVC origins and some of the possible applications for this new technology. Check out the video below for more details.

Next week, we'll be posting Part III so be sure to stop by the PlayStation Blog for more exclusive motion controller info.

Video: Escape From City 17 - Part One

298w ago - The Escape From City 17 short film series is an adaptation based on the Half Life computer game saga by Valve Corporation.

Originally envisioned as a project to test out numerous post production techniques, as well as a spec commercial, it ballooned into a multi-part series.

Filmed guerilla style with no money, no time, no crew, no script, the first two episodes were made from beginning to end on a budget of $500.

I thought the video was pretty cool, and that those who like half-life would like these videos.

COD4: Part II Modern Warfare 2: World At War Again Announced

300°
307w ago - In its seemingly never-ending mission to confuse gamers, Activision has recently confirmed that Infinity Ward is hard at work on the sequel to its 2007 best seller, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, simply titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Why the number 4 has apparently been dropped is unknown, although we can speculate it's because Activision doesn't like the idea of having two numbers in one game title.

To make matters worse, some sites and gamers are propagating that this game should be called Call of Duty 6, even though there wasn't technically a Call of Duty 5, just Call of Duty: World at War, which really is the fifth entry into the franchise but isn't labeled as such. And this just begs the question: Come 2010, what will Treyarch dub their follow-up to World at War?

Luckily, it's all a big ploy from the devious ad guys at Activision. That recent merger with Blizzard must have really shaken things up over there for them to come up with something as crazy as this! They sent over the official press release for the actual next Call of Duty game to Minus World HQ via snail mail.

That's just how top secret this is...until now. We've been entrusted to break this news, and break it we shall. Soldiers and soldierettes, we give you Call of Duty 4 Part II Modern...
