31w ago - As I hinted on last week, to tie in with my recent fighter packs for Mugen I have decided to work on the other side of Paintown's features which includes the side scrolling beat em up section.
What Jon Rafkind has given us with his game is a virtually easy to use character editor an level creation tool. This is my first dive into game creation and there's been some trial an error moments as well as some ''oh I see'' moments, but my understanding of this is becoming better an better with everyday I spend with this.
So anyway I sat down and decided that I was gonna do a Resident Evil side scroller. I have a lot of ideas that will work well in this mod, Ive even had a few other ideas for some future mods. I can understand why video games take an age to come out, it took me 3 days to put Hunks character together, that's ripping the sprites an putting them into there move folders then converting them one by one to be transparent so the game doesn't show the coloured background behind the sprite.
31w ago - Following up on the Super Mugen Bundle for PS3 Paintown, today Sybs has announced that PlayStation 3 homebrew developer Markus95 has released PS3 Paintown v3.6.1 Mod Pack v2 for 3.55 Custom Firmware users with details below.
To quote, roughly translated: I published today the new version of my Mod Pack for Paintown 3.6.1, as well as a compilation of all the latest homebrew works published for this I'll let you see in the changelog.
Mugen big news is now functional, so you can get face to one against one and take advantage of the Super Pack developed by Mugen Daveyshamble501.
I like this method because all spoofs are on fly by PSN on DEX without installing something on PS3 (except for the ca27).
I know, almost no one needs it anymore (at least not for PS3 Firmware 4.25), but for all those like me, who for example don't want to change IDPS on DEX, or needs some settings to be variable, can use this tool to set all kinds of spoof settings. Get my rar -> its a ready to use pack.
32w ago - Following up on the previous Blu-ray drive emulation rumor, today modrobert has announced that 3K3y, a PS3Key (ODD) - essentially an XKey for PS3 - is incoming shortly with some preliminary details outlined below.
Still can't get too excited at requiring additional hardware to play PS3 games with the advent of PlayStation 3 Custom Firmware a few years ago though.
To quote from EurAsia (linked above): I just got word from a well known team that will make PS3 owners happy!
Watching the video and drooling!! With those few words I hope to keep you interested...
Below is a picture (via facebook.com/x360key) as well.
More info while waiting for the video: In order to retrieve the needed BD drive key, Team 3k3y (aka xk3y) will release a PS3 software tool which requires CFW 3.55, after the key is dumped the PS3 can be upgraded to latest official system update (firmware/XMB) to get PSN etc.
The team is exploring other options to dump the required key as well, more on that later.
I'm relatively sure it does support original discs as well, but will confirm it anyway. Pretty much same functionality as xkey.
33w ago - Following up on their previous update, this weekend German PlayStation 3 developer IcEmAn (aka IcEmAn2012) has made available PS3 XMB CFW Mod v2 and XMB CFW Mod v2 for CEX / DEX consoles with details below.
1. Install any CFW (3.55) you like
2. Install XMB_CFW_MOD_v2.pkg
3. Activate dev_blind
4. Copy the content of: hdd0/game/XMBCFWMOD/USRDIR/dev_flash to "FLASH"
5. Copy the content of: hdd0/game/XMBCFWMOD/USRDIR/dev_hdd0 to "internal hard drive" by using a file manager (multiMAN) or FTP
6. Disable dev_blind and start the console again
If an incorrect use of the flash memory, a brick-risk for the console! Under the category CB (PlayStation Category) can no longer be installed (CB is now 1p).
UPDATE_2.2_(IcE-rX_Media_Manager) can now be installed on all CFW's,...
