154w ago - This weekend Liquidzigong has released what he calls Prometheus iSO Loader 6.20 TN-A for the PSP handheld. I have not tested this (as I have 5.00m33-6), but I thought it was worth sharing on here.
Great to see newer FW being able to run ISOs, and to know that the PSP hacking scene is not dead.
To quote: So there you are, Kindgdom Hearts running for the first time on a psp go (that’s right, if you have TN Hen and this loader, you can run MORE games than on an official console), and another video showing Monster Hunter Portable 3 running on a 6.20 PSP Go... enjoy
How to install/Run
Put your ISO files in the ISO folder of your memory stick. Unzip the archive in your PSP/GAME folder. Run as any normal homebrew. For TN Hen users, you of course need to run the Hen before that.
If you want to use the M33 driver, you need a copy of isofs_500.prx which is not included in this package. You can get this file from the official firmware, by using PSARDumper
155w ago - Just under a month ago Sony released PSP System Software v6.35, and over the weekend some1 via wololo (linked abaove) has released a HBL Homebrew Loader for PSP Firmware 6.35 via the Minna no Sukkiri Demo Exploit by Jeerum.
To quote: some1 had been working with m0skit0 and JJS on porting HBL to this exploit. It is unfortunate that the release has to happen like this, but some1 had to release his files much earlier than expected because of the leak.
You can download HBL for the sukkiri exploit here. I haven't tested it yet, and we will be working on a "proper" release in the days to come. If everything goes well, we will probably drop support for the previous exploits (the golf ones at least), in favor of this one.
This release makes HBL work on 6.35, in theory (haven't tested yet)"
156w ago - According to a recent SCEI patent, Sony plans to increase the PS3's power with an external processor.
To quote from PlayStationLifeStyle.net (linked above): "A Sony patent has hinted that they will release external processors to make the console even more powerful – without the need for a PS4.
The benefits of an upgrade to the PS3 are obvious – allowing for a more powerful machine, without having to pay so much for a new console. However, the “PS3 External Processor” has its drawbacks: it wouldn’t give consumers the same experience as a full new console, and would run the risk of both fragmenting and confusing the market.
The patent expressly states that several external processors may be used:
In accordance with an alternative embodiment, two processor elements may be cascaded by each employing its respective BIC in a coherent symmetric multiprocessor (SMP) interface (or BIF) configuration. The coherent SMP interface (BIF) of each processing element is coupled to one another to set up a coherent interface there between."
157w ago - Although it's been awhile since the previous update, today JNABK reports that Ifcaro has released Open PS2 Loader v0.8 for PS3 complete with Source Code followed by version 0.9 and v0.91 below.
For those unaware, this application allows for loading PS2 iSO images on PlayStation 3 consoles with PS2 support... meaning it must be a non-Slim PlayStation 3 model with (4) USB ports.
