Sony Announces Spelunky Lands on PS3 and PS Vita via PSN Today

50°
56w ago - Today Derek Yu at Mossmouth announced on Sony's blog that Spelunky lands on both PS3 and PS Vita via PSN with details below.

To quote: Spelunky is arriving on PlayStation Store today for PS Vita and PS3. As part of PS Vita Summer Select, PS Plus members will receive 20% off through September 2nd! Yay!

This is Spelunky's PlayStation debut as well as its handheld debut. It also happens to be the first game I've ever released on a handheld, which is personally very exciting, as portable gaming has been such a big part of my life. And I can't think of a better game or system to do this with!

Spelunky has two qualities that make it a great portable experience, in my opinion. On the one hand, it's very much a classic arcade game - challenging, but short.

It may take you a thousand tries to finally beat it, but each run will last under an hour (some only a few seconds!). On the other hand, Spelunky also borrows a lot from roguelikes, like the randomization, freedom of choice, and numerous, surprising possibilities.

The result, I hope, is a game that you will play for years and years on your Vita: on your bed, on the train, and abroad (maybe even in a real cave somewhere?).

Wasteland Kings is Hitting PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in 2014

57w ago - Vlambeer's Rami Ismail announced today at Gamescom 2013 that Wasteland Kings is hitting PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in 2014.

To quote: Vlambeer has been around for almost three years.

It's sort of a weird realization for the two of us that the past three years of our lives – practically every moment after we decided to run a games company full time - has been dedicated to making the games people know us for.

It's been an amazing run that's taken us from extreme highs to emotional lows, and introduced us to so many amazing people - whether they're developers or industry or fans.

Vlambeer is something weird. You see, the two of us are polar opposites. Whereas JW is an artistic and creative force full of weird ideas, I tend to do business and programming. If you've ever put two people like that in a single room, you know they don't tend to get along well.

That was true for the two of us as well, and we created this third person that resulted from the collision between us. That third person is what Vlambeer truly is - it's neither Jan Willem nor me. It's a separate "person."

The reason I'm explaining all this is because it is important to explain what the game we just announced for PS4 and PS Vita is.

Vlambeer started in September 2010....

Sony Announces Borderlands 2 is Coming to PlayStation Vita

57w ago - Gearbox Software Product Manager Adam Fletcher announced today at Gamescom 2013 that Borderlands 2 is coming to PlayStation Vita.

Below are the details, as follows: Hello travelers! The dream finally becomes a reality, as PlayStation, Gearbox Software and 2K announces today at Gamescom that the addictive first person shooter-looter mayhem of Borderlands 2 will be coming to PS Vita.

I watched as Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software, stood on stage at the Rezzed show in the UK a year ago and told fans that, with PlayStation's support, he'd love to see Borderlands 2 on PS Vita. For the last year, Gearbox Software, 2K, and PlayStation have been inundated with emails, tweets, forum posts and more from passionate gamers across the world pleading for a PS Vita version of Borderlands 2.

You spoke, we listened, and with the wonderful collaboration between 2K, PlayStation and the team at Iron Galaxy Studios - makers of indie fighting game Divekick - we can finally make Borderlands 2 on PS Vita a reality!

For those of you new to the critically acclaimed shooting-and-looting mayhem of Borderlands 2, which won more than 55 editorial awards in 2012, you'll be picking from four uniquely-skilled Vault Hunters - Axton the Commando, Maya the Siren, Salvador the Gunzerker...

Skylanders Swap Force Dark Edition, PS3 Special Edition Revealed

50°
58w ago - Executive Producer Scott Krager revealed the Skylanders Swap Force Dark Edition and Special Edition for PS3 today with details below.

To quote: In the beginning there was magic... There's this magical moment when a Skylanders fan puts a toy on the Portal of Power and watches the character burst to life in the game.

In fact, that's our official term for this experience - Magic Moment. It was coined shortly after the start of development on the first Skylanders game back in late 2008.

As the team watched the first group of kid playtesters experience a physical toy come to life in a videogame - bringing together two things they love most - it was pure magic for them and us. Since then, the term has been a fundamental part of the Skylanders lexicon.

And the magic continues... Cut to five years later as we're literally in the final throes of finishing the third game in the series - Skylanders Swap Force - and we're still amazed by just how magical Skylanders is to millions of kids around the world.

To keep the experience magical and adventurous... fun and humorous... epic and engaging... we're always looking for ways to be fresh and innovative. This year with Swap Force, we're introducing...

Video: Cloudberry Kingdom Lands on PlayStation Network Today

60w ago - Pwnee Studios President and Co-Founder Jordan Fisher announced alongside a video trailer that Cloudberry Kingdom lands on PlayStation Network today.

To quote: Take a second and watch the below video. I never watch videos in blog posts - it takes too long and I've been spoiled by GIFs. But seriously, just watch it. None of this post will make sense otherwise.

I needed you to see that before I continued. You see, we've made the hardest, most stupidly ridiculous hardcore game ever. And we're sorry. Kind of.

We even called it a happy name like Cloudberry Kingdom to help ease the pain. But before I actually try apologizing for real, let me take a step back and defend myself.

I'll be making use of the traditional Socratic Straw Man Method for my defense: below, you'll find your unsound critiques highlighted in bold, with my impenetrable defense following. Afterward I may apologize.

Let's start with the first reason for why you're upset. "Being hard for the sake of being hard is stupid, therefore this game is stupid."

Woah. First of all, [Register or Login to view links] has already proven in my mind that everyone wants a brutally unfair game with invisible spikes and hidden platforms that change location...
