24w ago - Following up on his previous revision and the update from Nullptr, today PlayStation 3 developer wborland0 has updated PS3 Game List Manager to version v2.2 for Windows x64 users with the changes below.
To quote from his blog: PS3 Game List v2.2 - Another application update after a slightly longer hiatus, bringing PS3 Game List to v2.2.
The main highlight is support for SevenZip (7Zip) files. That means users can retire multiple programs for their decompressing needs, as PS3 Game List is now able to load game info from 7Zs and extract data as well (which means that it can now read game folders, PKGs, ISOs, RARs and 7Z compressed files!).
As you have noticed, PS3GL dropped support for Windows Xp due to framework limitations (the new compiler no longer supports Xp binaries), working just fine under Vista, Seven and Eight. Still looking into a Xp alternative for those interested, check back for updates.
25w ago - Following up on PS3 Firmware 4.41, today Sony has released PS3 System Software update 4.45 followed by reports of mass-bricking (with PSN temporarily closed via Error 8002A308) so currently it is advised NOT to install it.
Beware as it is causing a lot of consoles (mine included) to brick! There seems to be a glitch (pictured below) with a lot of users updating to that firmware and getting freezes after restarting. For those curious, the new update is supposed to allow users to 'opt-out' of the pop-up messages that you earned a trophy while playing a game.
Some reports indicate that this primarily affects those with 500+ GB hard drives, however, it is advised not to update to 4.45 until Sony remedies the issue. Currently they have rolled back to Firmware 4.41 meaning when you boot up your PS3 you will no longer be prompted to download the 4.45 update.
From Sony's Twitter on the PS3 Firmware 4.45 changes: "PS3 system software update 4.45 coming soon,...
26w ago - Curve Digital CEO Jason Perkins announced today that Stealth Inc is sneaking into E3 with even more levels.
To quote: Good day, PlayStation fans! It's the Curve team here, bringing you news about Stealth Inc, the stealth-puzzle-platformer for PS3 and Vita that means to exterminate you at any cost.
Taking control of one of PTi Industries' many cloned test subjects, it's your job to hack, leap and lurk your way through an enormous test facility, with only an assortment of disgruntled, laser-wielding security drones for company.
With its focus on hiding in the shadows, Stealth Inc allows you to experience stealth in its purest form, away from pesky distractions like "weapons" and "armor". Now brought to you in crisp, shiny HD, an innocent, defenceless clone being bisected by a laser has never looked so good.
The Curve office is hard at work gearing up for Stealth Inc's release, but it seems that we're missing a couple of our game designers! Curve inmates Sam and Hamish have snuck away to E3, where they'll be showing off their handiwork to the gaming world from the PlayStation booth. Look out for Stealth Inc (and Sam and Hamish's gurning faces) in this year's E3 coverage!
Meanwhile, we'd like to hint at some new and exciting revelations. Firstly - this is less of...
