272w ago - Update: Thanks for your interest, but unfortunately Sony has confirmed that all codes are now gone. Congratulations to all those successful entrants, and apologies to those who missed out. The good news is that I'm sure the success of this promotion will ensure Screen Play readers are offered similiar access to upcoming games in future.
Hey guys, I found out that there are 500 keys available for Australians to get into the LBP Public BETA. Good Luck!
From the source: Screen Play readers can get their hands on LittleBigPlanet, the year's most highly anticipated, exciting and innovative PlayStation 3 game, well ahead of the October 23 launch.
Sony Computer Entertainment Australia has generously (and exclusively) supplied Screen Play with codes for 500 lucky readers to access the LittleBigPlanet beta, which runs until October 12.
The PS3 beta software includes the entire first area of LittleBigPlanet - "The Gardens" - plus the Create mode so that you have plenty of time to tinker and experience the fun of making your own crazy creations.
Click here to read the terms and conditions of the trial and to register your PlayStation Network user name to participate.
272w ago - A short while ago, Euro gaming Web site Eurogamer announced that they were offering 5800 keys for the LittleBigPlanet European BETA, and then they quickly disappeared under a raging tide of sack boy-hungry Europeans.
The sheer numbers have brought the Web site to its knees - with users trying to get there simply to get the link to entry page for the story and have had no luck whatsoever, and with the key offer requiring Eurogamer registration, both the front and and back end are getting completely slammed, bringing to mind a mental picture that I will quickly put out of my head.
Needless to say, all of the LittleBigPlanet keys are now gone, with this note: Sorry for all those who had trouble connecting during the stampede, and apologies to those who missed out.
274w ago - It's official, I'm finally getting my knees deep in an MMO for once. Usually I let Major handle these dirty tasks so that I myself don't get sucked in, but when I heard of free beta keys at 5:00 AM in the morning I couldn't resist but to grab one myself.
Multiplay is currently handing out 50,000 free beta keys. All you have to do is visit the page below sign up an account, and then head back to the link I posted. Fill out your birthday along with you language, and request a key.
If you are rejected for a key, don't start weeping just yet. Go back, and complete the same process in another language. It will usually spit out a key after your second or third try!
At least it their are enough keys by then. We ourselves have one extra key we will be giving out if all else fails for your success of becoming a destined WAR player. All you got to do is register an account, and post a comment here with your account name. Those who commented with the correct information will be put into a raffle (which will occur around 5:30 tomorrow morning), and produce a winner. Before you retreat to luck we do suggest you try your chance out at Multiplay with the link below!.
281w ago - Bushing has released a tool for grabbing the keys from your Wii console. To quote: This isn't the prettiest code I've ever written - it doesn't have much of an interface, and I just threw this release together in a few minutes.
However, it's been exceedingly useful to me, and hopefully some of you will find it useful, too. I'll quote the README here:
This program will do the following, automatically:
- Download IOS11 from the Nintendo Update Server
- Patch it to remove the MEM2 protection (so the PPC can access all 64MB of it)
- Patch it to allow it to delete itself later using ES_DeleteTitle()
- Find an unused IOS slot (counting downward from IOS255)
- Install the hacked IOS11 there
- Reboot into the hacked IOS
- Copy the private key structure from the IOS address space into MEM1
- Reboot back into a sane IOS
- Delete the temporary, hacked IOS
- Display the keys on screen
- Try to write them to a file on the SD card – keys.txt
- Pause for 60 seconds to allow you to copy the keys down using pen and paper, if necessary
I wrote this a week or two after I killed a Wii trying to reproduce tmbinc's original...
