Sony Confirms Media Molecule Officially Joins PlayStation Family

229w ago - Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has confirmed today that Sony has purchased [Register or Login to view links], creators of the beloved [Register or Login to view links], making them a wholly owned part of Sony Computer Entertainment and the latest member of the PlayStation family.

The decision was an easy one after meeting five young, talented people with a massive ambition to redefine video games as we know them, followed by a fantastic exclusive relationship that culminated in the launch of one of the most innovative PlayStation games of recent years.

Of course, LittleBigPlanet needs no introduction here, as it was thanks to you that it became a best selling PS3 title when it released in late 2008.

The acquisition will enhance the talent pool within SCE, protect past and current investment and ensure a solid base for future investment. Media Molecule have exciting projects in the pipeline and we're looking forward to sharing these with you in the not too distant future.

Video: ModNation Racers PSP - Join and Get a Limited PSP Theme

230w ago - SCEA's Associate Product Marketing Manager Chuck Lacson has shared a ModNation Racers PSP video today on the PlayStation Blog and announced news of a limited PSP Theme for those who join the nation.

To quote: Earlier this month we announced how ModNation is going mobile with ModNation Racers PSP. Now you players will be able to Race, Create, and Share on the move.

If you recall, [Register or Login to view links] hooked up PS3 owners with a slick PS3 theme for signing up on the Web site, now it's time for PSP owners to get some love!

If you register with [Register or Login to view links] by March 2nd, we will send you a couple of limited edition PSP themes.

Disney Pixar's Up Joins the PSN Video Delivery Service Tomorrow

246w ago - Today PlayStation Store Senior Manager Grace Chen has revealed that Disney's selection on PSN is way 'Up', meaning that Disney Pixar's Up will indeed be available tomorrow on the PSN Video Delivery Service.

To quote: Starting tomorrow, November 10, you can purchase Disney Pixar's Up from the PlayStation Network video delivery service – the same day it's released on Blu-ray and DVD. The movie is available to own for $14.99 in standard-definition and $19.99 in high-definition.

Up is among nearly 80 full-length Disney feature films which we will be adding to the video store to purchase over the next couple of days, including 60 in high-definition, such as Disney Pixar's A Bug's Life, Cars, Ratatouille, WALL-E and Monsters, Inc.

Many of these Disney favorites are also already available for rent, with prices ranging from $2.99 to $5.99.

If you haven't tried the video delivery service before, there's never been a better time. There are over 2,400 full-length movies and 15,000 television episodes to choose from including new and favorite movies, television shows, sports, anime, original entertainment, and more.

70's Mustang Joins GT5 PS3 Lineup at the Gran Turismo Awards

246w ago - Sony's Public Relations Manager Alex Armour has unveiled today that a 70's Mustang has joined the GT5 PS3 lineup at the Gran Turismo Awards.

To quote: Two days ago, PlayStation hosted the 7th annual Gran Turismo (GT) Awards in Las Vegas, taking place in conjunction with the 2009 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show.

We had some impressive entries and a fantastic turnout at the ceremony, headlined by a live performance from the The Offspring at Rain nightclub inside the Palms hotel.

Kazunori Yamauchi - creator of the Gran Turismo franchise - chose a 1970 Ford Mustang from our Hot Rod category as our overall "Best in Show" vehicle, so a big congratulations to owners Todd Gartshore and Phil Koenan - get ready to see you car cruising around the virtual tracks of Gran Turismo 5!
