Video: Puppeteer Interview: Delving Into Japan Studio's Platformer

50°
39w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton shared a video interview today which delves deeper into Japan Studio's incredible platformer called Puppeteer below!

To quote: Shameless favoritism alert: PlayStation Blog ruddy loves Puppeteer. It's one of the liveliest, loveliest and most downright out-there platformers to come along in years, and plays beautifully to boot.

It arrives in stores on 11th September, and if it's not on your radar yet, it's time to stick a pin in it. This is a game unlike any other you'll see on shelves this year.

With just a few weeks left of development, we caught up with the game's director, the ever-insightful Gavin Moore, last week to delve a little deeper into his deviously dark creation.

When we spoke last year you explained that you were making Puppeteer so that you had something to play with your young son. What's his verdict now that he's been able to play it?

Gavin Moore: He loves it! He likes playing it either on his own or with his Dad, which is nice.

If I'm playing Kutaro and he's playing the secondary character - Picarina or YinYang - he tries to kill me all the time because he wants to be Kutaro. He thinks Kutaro is him,...

PS4 / PlayStation 4 Release Date Revealed by Best Buy Kiosk

750°
40w ago - Today AllGames.com (linked above) reports that Sony's PS4 / PlayStation 4 release date of November 30, 2013 has been revealed by a kiosk in a local Best Buy retail store.

Previously, Sony stated that the PS4 / PlayStation 4 release date would be officially unveiled at Gamescom in Cologne from August 21-25, 2013.

Below are the details, to quote: "Exactly when will the PS4 be released?

The answer lies in what I would describe as an impressive pre-order display touch screen system located at a particular Best Buy I went to recently. Using the touch screen, you can pre-order video games and/or the new video game systems.

While I was at Best Buy, using the touch screen, I decided, on a whim, to select the video game consoles category since I was curious as to what would be displayed for the PS4. I touched the screen that showed a picture of the PS4 - when lo and behold - I saw it! There before me on the big screen was the release date for the PS4.

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, so take a look and you will see what I saw as the availability, release, or launch date for the PS4. Rather than me telling you the date - check out the visual below. Pre-order touch screen at Best Buy shows availability date for the PS4 as 11/30/2013.

To quote: Starting today, we will be offering the Pinball Arcade launch pack of four tables, free to PS Plus subscribers! Tales of the Arabian Nights, Black Hole, Theatre of Magic, and Ripley's Believe it or Not are all great tables.

If you're a Plus subscriber and you haven't tried our game yet - what do you have to lose? These machines are all classics. The depth, well-balanced, and yet, challenging gameplay is something that's worth checking out. But that's not all.

We have bundled our first ten Table Packs together into a Season One bundle. Players can now buy 18 of the all-time greatest tables at an amazing discount!

There are two options. The Season One Bundle costs $29.99 - bought separately, these 18 tables would cost almost $50 - but for the serious pinball fan, the Season One Pro Bundle for $39.99 is the way to go.

The Season One bundle includes; Medieval Madness, Bride of Pin Bot, Cirqus Voltaire, Funhouse, Monster Bash, Gorgar, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Black Knight, Harley-Davidson 3rd Edition, Taxi, Elvira and the Party Monsters, No Good Gofers, Scared Stiff, Big Shot, Twilight Zone,...

HumaNature Studios: Doki-Doki Universe Coming to PS4, PS3 & PS Vita

50°
49w ago - HumaNature Studios Founder Greg Johnson announced today that Doki-Doki Universe is coming to PS4, PS3 and PS Vita!

Below are the details, to quote: My name is Greg Johnson, and I've been making games longer than I'd like to admit (ever heard of Toejam and Earl? If you've heard of my first game, Starflight, you're older than you probably want to admit).

We at HumaNature (that's Human Nature... not Huma Nature by the way) are a pretty small group, as far as game development groups go these days.

Our (admittedly lofty) goal is to create new and original game experiences that reach out to people looking for more humanity in games. We love interactive stories, emotional expression, and self-discovery - we're not so big on shooting things.

Here at HNS we are hard at work building a game for PlayStation, who, thankfully, seems to like a lot of the same lofty things we do. Our game is called Doki-Doki Universe. It's tough to describe Doki-Doki, because it's actually a set of related products that will be released at the same time.

Players' first exposure to Doki-Doki will be in the form of a free download for their PS Vita, PS3 or PS4. This is a light version of the game where players can fly around a Universe and take fun personality quizzes.

DrinkBox Studios: Guacamelee! Rolls Onto PS3 and PS Vita Today

100°
53w ago - DrinkBox Studios COO Graham Smith announced alongside a launch trailer video that Guacamelee rolls onto PS3 and PS Vita today.

To quote: I'm extra excited to announce that Guacamelee! comes out today on PS3 and PS Vita via PSN.

We're releasing the game as part of the Spring Fever promotion: $14.99 will get you both the PS3 and PS Vita versions, with a 20% discount for PlayStation Plus members.

Still there? Then allow me to add that Guacamelee! is a metroid-vania style brawler that supports Cross-Buy, Cross-Save, Cross-Control, has a precious Platinum trophy, and comes complete with rapid punching action.

Punch, punch, punch! Speaking of which, you may now be saying, "Hey guy, what's up with all of the punch talk?" Take a look...

Well, when we started making Guacamelee! we knew we wanted to include punching, but not just ordinary punching. We built a proof-of-concept demo, a video of which I have included below for your approval.

As you can see, we had blocking, we had holds, and we had charge-up moves. You'll be interested to know that we now have none of those things! Why, you ask?
