41w ago - Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida has officially invited PlayStation 3 fans to sign up for the PS3 Beta today.
Below are the details, to quote: This is Naoki Yoshida, the producer and director of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn. First of all, I would like to thank the PlayStation.Blog team for the opportunity to share with you the latest developments in our game.
We were recently in San Francisco as part of a tour to show A Realm Reborn to members of the gaming media. Our guests had a chance to take the game for a spin, after which I sat down with them for an interview. I expect that reports will be hitting various online media outlets starting today, so please keep an eye out!
We consider it one of our missions to reacquaint gamers all over the world with the wonders of FINAL FANTASY. To this end, we'll be incorporating the most memorable elements of the series into A Realm Reborn.
Mind you, this won't be limited only to the game's launch; in subsequent patches, we plan to keep adding more great stuff from FINAL FANTASY's 25-year history.
For starters, adventurers will be able to take on the Crystal Tower (FFIII) raid dungeon, do battle with classic summons (such as Ifrit, Titan, and Leviathan), and ride magitek armor...
42w ago - Sony Director of Emerging Platforms Chris Mahoney has announced that OMG Zombies is the final weekly free PS Mobile game available today!
Below are the details, to quote: It seems people can't get enough of the undead. Laughing Jackal's OMG Zombies – the last of our six free PS Mobile games - casts you as the sole survivor of a police team that has been attacked by (you guessed it) zombies. Your mission: tear through hordes of zombies across a maze of levels, and escape the city.
Your progress in this game depends on the amount of chained combos you get from killing zombies. This game is an upgraded version of the OMG-Z game that was released by Laughing Jackal as a PS mini back in 2011.
There are weapon upgrades, branching levels, rewards, and various zombie types to encounter. This game is the easiest - and safest - way to take out zombies.
PS Vita owners will be able to download OMG Zombies for free on the PlayStation Mobile section of PlayStation Store.
Owners of PlayStation-certified devices (see full list here) can obtain it through the PlayStation Mobile Store - click here for full instructions.
We hope you enjoyed our six weeks of free PlayStation...
45w ago - Following up on last week's PlayStation 4 rumors, today Kotaku (linked above) and Gematsu have revealed the rumored PS4 / Orbis final devkit specifications, touch pad controller details and new account system summary below.
To quote: SPECS
We'll begin with the specs. And before we go any further, know that these are current specs for a PS4 development kit, not the final retail console itself. So while the general gist of the things you see here may be similar to what makes it into the actual commercial hardware, there's every chance some - if not all of it - changes, if only slightly.
That being the case, here's what we know is inside PS4 development kits - model # DVKT-KS000K - as of January 2013. As you'll see, some things have changed since earlier kits became available in March 2012.
