Video: Ibb and Obb: Development Prototypes on Game's Evolution

50°
69w ago - Sparpweed Creative Director Richard Boeser has shared some video footage today of Ibb and Obb spotlighting the development prototypes documenting the game's evolution below.

To quote: We're almost there. ibb and obb is nearing completion and we hope to release the game on PSN this May.

Getting to this point has been quite an adventure. Currently there are between four and ten people working on the project, but around seven years ago this all started with my graduation project and I could only dream of where it is right now.

I studied Industrial Design and always thought I would become a product designer. But over the course of my studies my interest for product design faded and at the same time it felt like something new was happening in the game industry.

It was around the time that Katamari Damacy made its first appearance on Playstation. I loved it and to me it signalled a start of more original titles finding their way to a larger audience.

I strongly wanted to be part of this change and decided to focus my graduation project on game design.

Part of the project was to design a game concept myself. I was convinced that the best way to design games is to work with prototypes...

71w ago - Sony PlayStation Digital Platforms Community Manager Paul Sullivan announced that the evolutionary RTS Forevolution comes to PlayStation Mobile today.

Below are the details, to quote: Forevolution is a real-time strategy game from [Register or Login to view links] in Osaka, Japan.

In Forevolution, you are the ruler of your own world with the power to influence animals, plants - even the elements themselves! You will truly feel empowered while controlling and creating life from this unique perspective.

During a trip to Laos, the creator of this game gained the following, simple insight: "Cows eat the weeds on the ground. Cows [fertilize] the land to grow crops. Humans eat cows. Humans die and return to the land."

This life cycle is the inspiration behind Forevolution, available today on the PlayStation Mobile marketplace. At $5.49, this uniquely styled, addictive RTS is a must have for PS Mobile fans.

If you've never downloaded a game from the Mobile store, now's the time to check it out. PS Vita owners can download Forevolution on the PlayStation Mobile section of PlayStation Store.

Owners of PlayStation-certified devices (see full list here) can obtain it through the PlayStation Mobile Store - [Register or Login to view links]

Video: Racing Evolves on PlayStation 4 / PS4 with Driveclub

74w ago - Evolution Studios Game Director Matt Southern announced today that racing evolves on PlayStation 4 / PS4 with Driveclub!

To quote: When I joined Evo nine years ago, the first concept I worked on was for a racing game that was all about racing with friends. It combined the best cars (and they would have to be real ones), on the most breathtaking roads in the world, with gameplay that was totally focused on team-based racing.

I loved the job from day one.

The game was all about utter car passion. It was about connecting people who are as in love with car culture as we are, and creating a universe for these impassioned racers to all play together.

We created web design concepts that showed how you could connect with people and access your club when you were away from the living room, and we created prototypes of the most immersive, detailed vehicle interiors and exteriors possible.

Except...they weren't possible. Our concept was simple, but needed a socially connected network and audiovisual technology that wasn't available.

When we knew PlayStation 4 was coming, we realised that the time was right to make the Driveclub dream a reality. It was time to combine nearly 15 years...

Video: Sony Speaks on PlayStation Evolution: The Beginning

300°
75w ago - Following up on their first promotional video teaser, today Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman speaks to fans on PlayStation Evolution: The Beginning in a new video below.

To quote: PlayStation's arrival to the world of gaming signaled a change in the status quo and a sign of things to come. The original PlayStation system emerged in 1994 in Japan as a dark horse challenger, a seemingly outgunned newcomer entering a crowded field dominated by legends of the 16-bit era.

PlayStation's advanced technology and innovative controller design won raves with critics and gamers, and in 1995, the system expanded to North America, Europe, and Australia.

Accompanied by a powerful salvo of titles including WipEout, Crash Bandicoot, and Gran Turismo, PlayStation's rapid rise marked the end of one era of videogames and the dawn of another. The world was never the same.

50°
75w ago - Activision Community Manager Dan Amrich has confirmed today that Call of Duty: Black Ops II Revolution DLC hits PSN on February 28, 2013.

Below are is the full scoop, to quote: As the old saying goes, "the revolution will not be televised." Nonsense - it's not only on your TV screen, but it will be interactive, too.

Revolution, the first DLC pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops II, arrives on PlayStation Network on February 28 - and there's more inside this collection than you may be expecting.

Revolution offers a heck of a lot of content for both multiplayer and Zombies fans. First up are the four multiplayer maps:

• Hydro: Located in Pakistan, this hydro-electric plant comes complete with a lethal spillway that floods with very little warning.
• Grind: Set in a skate park in Venice Beach (the birthplace of skateboarding!), quarter-pipes and curved surfaces drive players away from easy cover and into intense firefights.
• Downhill: A ski resort in the French Alps, this snowy map is complete with a moving gondola system that can both offer cover and crush you to death.
• Mirage: Located in China's Gobi Desert, this luxury resort has been ravaged by a sandstorm.

It's worth noting that Mirage is also the first Black Ops II...
