Video: Resistance 3 PS3: Watch the VGA Trailer Director's Cut

50°
210w ago - Today Insomniac Games Senior Community Manager James Stevenson has shared a Resistance 3 PS3 Director's Cut VGA trailer with fans.

To quote: While [Register or Login to view links] is off for the holiday break, we did want to stop by with the Director's Cut of our [Register or Login to view links] trailer.

The trailer originally called for three scenes, each showing a different aspect of the game, and the initial sequence was meant to tie it to the GamesCom trailer. Alas, live television demanded a two-minute run-time, and we wanted to give you as much gameplay as possible, so some of the live action hit the cutting room floor.

This restored Director's Cut features a lot of the extra live-action that Prologue shot - including a dark warehouse scene at the beginning. Each of the live action moments does represent a section of the game, despite the only gameplay footage occurring during the boat.

Check out the Director's cut below:

We hope you also got a chance to see the new screenshots we released with the VGAs. We feel like they are some of the best screens we've ever taken.

We're off for the holidays as a company, but we did drum up a few blog posts, and...

PS3 Developer JaicraB on Special Execution Mode WIP

800°
212w ago - Today Spanish PS3 developer JaicraB has posted an update on his blog (linked above) of what appears to be a PS3 special execution mode WIP.

With it, he may be able to get the PS3 into service mode (possibly for downgrading and other delightful things) so let us hail him and hope there is more to come for us all.

For those who missed it, a few months back RichDevX also noted some progress in this area using a PSGroove Payload for PS3 Service Mode.

Some pictures are posted below, and to quote roughly translated:

"Look at this...., It seems not only egocentrics know how to do things and then sell their products.

A gift for DemonHades, Happy birthday to you !"

Video: InFamous 2 for PS3: New Comic-Con 2010 Cutscene

250°
231w ago - Sucker Punch Productions Senior Artist Edward Pun has shared a fresh InFamous 2 PS3 video cutscene today straight from Comic-Con 2010.

To quote: For all of our awesome fans who weren't at Comic-Con this year, I'm excited to share the first look at the 2D cutscenes from inFAMOUS 2 we debuted yesterday night.

As senior artist on the title, I work with the art teams to help production run smoothly and tackle the huge task of drawing every frame of our graphic cut scenes.

It's time consuming and a lot of hard work but, in the end, I hope InFAMOUS 2 will reflect our love for comic books and give fans the experience of being a super powered hero.

It means a lot to both me and the team to see all the love you have for InFAMOUS. In addition, we may have some [Register or Login to view links] panel highlights next week to share as well.

EA Slashes 1500 Jobs, Cuts Back on New IP by Half in 2010

50°
268w ago - Today CEO John Riccitiello of Electronic Arts announced that it is set to cut 1500 jobs, and in addition to that they will be cutting back on new IP by 50 per cent through the next fiscal year.

According to [Register or Login to view links], this is part of their effort to reduce market risks during a tough economic period.

To quote: The result has been a string of new franchises such as Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, Spore, Zubo, Brutal Legend and Henry Hatsworth. The critical and commercial success of these new ventures has been mixed to say the least, though there have been notable successes.

However, question marks now hang over every non-established EA series.

"Electronic Arts has a core slate of games label and sports franchises that we will iterate on a either annual or bi-annual basis," Riccitiello stated.

"And I think you know what those major titles are - all of them are selling or have sold in their most recent edition 2m units or more."

"After that, we've got The Sims and Hasbro, and frankly anything that doesn't measure up to looking like it can pencil out to be in very high profit contributor and high unit seller got cut from our title slate from this point going forward."
