Rumor: PSPgone - Sony Discontinuing PSPgo Handheld Console?

192w ago - Update #2: According to [Register or Login to view links], a Sony Computer Entertainment America spokesperson confirmed on the phone today that production is indeed continuing for the PSPgo in North America.

Update: It's now official, as reported by [Register or Login to view links] (via [Register or Login to view links]) and [Register or Login to view links] (via [Register or Login to view links]) to quote: "New PSPgo units would no longer be manufactured or shipped 'in order to concentrate on the NGP'. The remaining PSPgo stock, however, will continued to be sold until it's gone."

Today Andriasang.com (linked above) reports that according to a [Register or Login to view links] Sony has ceased production of the PSPgo handheld with their [Register or Login to view links] page now showing the PSPgo as discontinued.

Rumor: Sony Recruiting PS3 Hackers to Combat Console Piracy

198w ago - A few weeks back we reported that Sony was hiring IP investigators as part of forming a PS3 anti-piracy program, and today Dutch site PSX-Sense (linked above) reports that they may also be recruiting PlayStation 3 hackers as well.

According to rumor, Sarah McRae [Register or Login to view links] Koushik Dutta regarding a Software Engineer position that is opening at SCEA.

To quote, roughly translated: Something we wouldn't expect from Sony; they are recruiting hackers for a job at SCEA. A hacker named Koush got an e-mail, which is 100% real, from Sarah McRae which works onsite at the Talent Acquisition department.

He had been asked for a job at the R&D Departmen at Sony, we're sure Koushik isn't the only hacker which has been contacted by Sony. As a proof Koush posted a screenshot of the e-mail.
 

Official FckPSN v0.6 with PS3 Console ID Hiding is Released

198w ago - Today the official FckPSN v0.6 is released which now hides your PS3 console ID.

Please do not use the unofficial one that some bad guys released broken some days ago. That version does not send console ID on PSN servers when you connect, so you are quite anonymous! Please do not download that version that is not official and it does not work.

FckPSN is a simple SSL proxy, used to spoof your PSN version and re-enable PSN access for your console.

Prerequisites

  • CA27.cer, dev_blind.pkg, fckPsn-v0.6.exe
  • OpenPS3FTP v1.3 or later

ChangeLog:

v0.6: Use an empty consoleid. Warning: be sure to get my 0.6 version

Installation:

1. Install dev_blind.pkg and OpenPS3FTP on your PS3 (using FTP, external USB or what else)
2. Launch dev_blind and make it mount the flash
3. Open OpenPS3FTP
4. Connect via FTP to PS3 (using username root and password openbox)
5. Go to /dev_blind/data/cert
6. Rename CA27.cer to CA27.cer.bak
7. Put my CA27.cer as /dev_blind/data/cert/CA27.cer
8. Set the PS3’s PRIMARY and...

  • Check and analyze the dump correcting the flaws that have this and thus repairing the internal firmware of our PS3.
  • It can extract the various files that make up the core of our PS3 (read lv2_kernel.self, eurusfw.bin, etc...).
  • Lets look at both full NAND Dumps as desenciptados CORE_OS_PACKAGE.pkg packages provided to analyze your files.
  • Finds and extracts the User Profile (EID, bootloaders, etc) the dump interlaced with the flow rebuilder.
