Gran Turismo 5 PS3 Track Editor Confirmed by Polyphony Digital

254w ago - Update: [Register or Login to view links] has now done a Q&A with Kazunori Yamauchi where he also hints at the forthcoming GT5 track editor.

According to several sites this weekend, including E4G.info (linked above), Polyphony Digital has confirmed that a Track Editor will be included in the upcoming release of Gran Turismo 5 for Sony's PS3 console.

To quote: With the recent rumors and videos that have been going around about Gran Turismo 5 having a track editor, we decided to contact the developers to find out if it was true or not. Now, we have a official answer.

They were kind enough to give us a quick response and this is what a representative said:

"Yes it will have a track editor. You will be able to rebuild a track from scratch or edit the tracks that are already put in Gran Turismo 5."
 

3D Dot Game Heroes Confirmed for PS3 in North America

255w ago - Just over a month ago we saw the debut trailer for the PS3 exclusive 3D Dot Game Heroes.

As one of the most promising PlayStation 3 exclusive games in Japan, 3D Dot Game Heroes is apparently being localized for North America.

Sony just posted the following message on their official [Register or Login to view links] page, to quote:

"No need to import - 3D Dot Game Heroes for PS3 is DEFINITELY coming to NA! Spread the word, more to come."

The publisher and release date is still unknown. Still, it is great seeing a unique game like 3D Dot Game Heroes be made available to a worldwide audience.
 

Confirmed: Netflix is Coming Soon to PlayStation 3

255w ago - The rumor over the weekend has now been officially confirmed, Netflix is indeed coming soon to Sony's PS3 console!

To quote from Netflix VP of Corporate Communications Steve Swasey on the PlayStation Blog:

Attention, PlayStation 3 owners: want to watch a movie streamed instantly from Netflix via your PS3? I've got terrific news for you; very soon you'll be able to do just that.

We're excited to announce today that Netflix and Sony have partnered to bring you thousands of movies and TV episodes streamed instantly from Netflix to your TV via your PS3 system at no extra charge.

When the application launches next month, you'll be able to access and watch thousands of Netflix choices directly through the XMB. We think that the nearly nine million PS3 enthusiasts and 11.1 million Netflix members in the U.S. will make quite a match.

Cross-Game Voice Chat Confirmed to Hit PS3 in Firmware Update

257w ago - Last month we heard a rumor of cross-game chat finally hitting the PlayStation 3 in the upcoming PS3 Firmware 3.10 update.

Today, it appears the rumor has been inadvertently confirmed on the US PlayStation forums (linked above) by Naughty Dog Dev ReklissAbandon in a response to a question about enemy spectating in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

To quote: "I think they wanted people to have fun and enjoy the show since all dead players can talk to each other no matter what team you are on. But I will suggest it anyway.

Not to mention that the next PS3 firmware update is going to allow cross game chat. So if players use that instead of in game communication then they would also be able to communicate enemies positions."

As expected, the post has since been edited and deleted... but a copy of it is below. It looks like another Sony cover-up is in the works PS3 Slim-style!
 

inFamous 2 for PS3 in Development, Confirmed By Voice Actor

257w ago - Although Sucker Punch hasn't responded to this yet, it appears work is already underway on an inFamous sequel for Sony's PS3 console.

Speaking on his Twitter page, David Sullivan today [Register or Login to view links] (now removed) the existence of inFamous 2, with Cole being recast.

To quote: "First voiceover/motion capture audition today for a video game. Re-casting of Cole in the sequel of Infamous. "I'll melt your face."

Actress Yvette Nicole Brown (who voiced Moya) later [Register or Login to view links] to Sullivan, claiming he "would be awesome as Cole".

With voice-over auditions currently going on, the game won't be released or shown for quite some time. The question that will sit in the mind of gamers now will be when and where will Sony and Sucker Punch showoff the inFamous sequel.
