179w ago - Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared a video walkthrough today on the PlayStation Blog for BioShock 2 on PS3 which showcases some new gameplay features.

To quote: This week's Q1 PlayStation Showcase didn't just feature Sony-published games; a number of publishers brought along heavily-anticipated titles to show on PS3 and PSP.

I think that term - "heavily anticipated" - definitely applies to BioShock 2.

In this video, 2K Marin's Lead Environment Artist Hogarth Delaplante ("call me Hoagy") walks us through some of the new features and areas in BioShock 2, and details new gameplay features like setting traps, "dual-wielding", and the new hacking mechanic.

193w ago - Today 2K Games released the first look at BioShock 2's multiplayer mode on GameTrailers TV.

The multiplayer takes place during the fall of Rapture, the underwater city where BioShock and its sequel are set. Players are apparently Sinclair Solutions test subjects who have turned on each other.

They'll use a variety of tonics, plasmids, and good old fashioned firearms to take out opponents. In addition to all the fireballs and shotguns, there's also going to be turrets. Oh, and players will be able to transform into a Big Daddy and steamroll everyone.

BioShock 2's multiplayer development is being handled by Digital Extremes while 2K Marin focuses on the single-player. The game's due in the first half of 2010.

The video's caption reads as follows: Join the battle under the sea as any of these genetically modified characters!

197w ago - GameStop has reportedly revealed two more characters in "Zigo the Fisherman" and "Blanche the Actress," available "exclusively" through pre-order of the game via in-store ads.

These characters were previously announced and are the first two characters from the multiplayer portion of the game that 2K has revealed.

To quote: Koku Gamer spotted the images on the 2K's BioShock 2 forum from Rocco, where astute forum-goers point out that the images of the two characters look a lot like recently released BioShock 2 Mulitplayer Gamerpics #2 content on Xbox Live.

As the game's release has been pushed back to the "first half" of 2010, we're waiting to hear more before running out to the store and dropping five Earth dollars, thank you very much.

208w ago - BioShock 2 will be available in Europe on October 30th and in North America on November 3rd.

It will be hitting XBox 360, PC and the PS3 console platforms.

To quote: During Take-Two's second quarter financial conference call, CEO Ben Feder announced that BioShock 2 will release in Europe on Friday, October 30, while North American gamers will be returning to Rapture on Tuesday, November 3.

It's worth noting that Take Two still lists the game's platforms as "TBA." Given that the previous title was released for Xbox 360, PC and (eventually) PS3, and that Take-Two enjoys making money, it's likely the game will again hit all three high-definition platforms.

There is still the question as to the order in which the game will hit those platforms, though, and with E3 looming, a timed-exclusivity announcement may be in the offing.

213w ago - GameSpot has managed to get a preview on BioShock 2, and have reported that things are heading in the right direction with some interesting new elements added.

To quote: Based on our early look at BioShock 2, the sequel seems like it's headed in the right direction. It seems to be covering the bases it needs to in order to give the fans what they want, while also tossing in some intriguing new stuff.

We're anxious to see how the new, old big daddy really handles and exactly how the big sister fits into the action. It should also go without saying that we're also looking forward to exploring more of Rapture and seeing just where the story is going to go.
