213w ago - The Associate Producer for Battlefield Gordon Van Dyke has announced today on the PlayStation Blog that the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 PS3 Beta Begins on November 19, 2009.
To quote: Today we're excited to announce that our forthcoming multiplayer beta is coming exclusively to PS3, so you'll have a chance to experience all the action, destruction and vehicular warfare ahead of our full release in March 2010.
Starting on November 19, the beta will feature the huge 'Arica Harbour' map where up to 24 players compete to secure valuable crates in the 'Rush' game mode as the action moves across a variety of different locations. From an initial vehicle assault on a military outpost the war winds through streets of a deserted town to an intense final fire-fight in an industrial harbour.
229w ago - According to GamersDigest (linked above), the Coral Sea and the Air Superiority mode has finally been unlocked for the PS3 version of Battlefield 1943.
XBox 360 players had unlocked it earlier in the week as they reached the target figure of 43 million kills that was set by EA Dice, but PS3 players can now also enjoy the fourth map.
The demo timer has also been reset, meaning if you've downloaded the demo and expired the allotted 30 minutes of time, there will be another 30 waiting for you when you sign back in.
To quote: GamersDigest can confirm that Coral Sea and the 'Air Superiority' mode has finally been unlocked for the PS3 version of Battlefield 1943, with 360 players having unlocked it earlier on in the week.
To play the new map and mode, look at the last option on the menu, select it just like you would select 'Quick Match' and get ready for pure dogfighting.
240w ago - Today Battlefield 1943 Producer Gordon Van Dyke announced news that Battlefield 1943 is coming to PS3 via PlayStation Network.
To quote: The online multiplayer, first-person-shooter title, Battlefield 1943 for the PSN will take you back to the WWII Pacific Theater in a way never before seen, this June on the PLAYSTATION 3 for only $15!
You'll enjoy three amazing locations with Iwo Jima, Wake Island, and Guadalcanal letting you pilot and drive a variety of airplanes, tanks, and transport vehicles to help you win the battle.
Today is a really exciting day, first it's Walpurgis Night here in Sweden celebrating the start of summer's approach with bonfires, yes I said bonfires, and this is done all over the country.
It is quite the sight to see from atop the DICE studio. Another really exciting thing for me today is the release of the Battlefield 1943 trailer for the first time on PSN (later today) and seeing it in full glory on my PS3.
Now before you watch the video, imagine with me flying your Corsair airplane over the tropical Wake Island engaged in a dogfight with a Japanese Zero, you take him down and notice your squad mate's tank about to be flanked by the enemy in another tank.
287w ago - The stats database has been reinforced and you should now see the correct stats both in-game and on the Web site.
A very small amount of players might experience some freezes when logging in. Please report this on the following thread and we will take care of it as soon as possible.
Please note that you only receive an unlock on Rank 1, 2, and 4, for a total of 3 unlocks.
We will continue working around the clock to improve your experience even further. This Tuesday we're rolling out an update during the regular maintenance to secure the integrity of your stats.
We've noticed that EU players sometimes end up on North American east coast servers and vice versa. During the maintenance the ping servers will be tuned in order to make sure you end up on the server with lowest ping.
We've increased the number of servers to cater for an amazing 50,000 players. In a couple of hours time we need to restart all servers to prepare for this and to decrease the lag and improve the experience on X360.
RESTART WILL OCCUR AT 4pm PDT / 7pm EDT / 01:00 CEST.
288w ago - The package shot for the PS3 version of Battlefield: Bad Company reveals the game will require a 300MB install. The X-Box 360 version of the game only requires 2MB of space.
To quote: Reedix sent in a comparison picture of the boxes of EA's upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company on the PLAYSTATION 3 and X-Box 360. What he noticed was that the PLAYSTATION 3 requires 300MB of space while the X-Box 360 version requires 2MB of space.
He got these box shots from the PS3 and 360 pages for the game on GameStop.com.
Is 300MB a reasonable HDD requirement for PS3 owners, or are they taking a back seat to 360 owners?
