132w ago - A little over a week ago a guide was posted on how to play online using a JailBroken PS3 with XLink Kai, and today bumax reports that XBSlink is working with the PS3 also for multiplayer games via P2P connection.
To quote: XBSLink is client/server to enable local network multiplayer games over the Internet just like XLink Kai, the only difference is that it's a P2P connection!
How is XBSlink different to Xlink Kai/xbconnect?
In difference to other Systemlink proxies, XBSlink is purely P2P with no server infrastructure. No server connection or specialized game browser service is necessary.
You are not dependent on any other factors. All packets in and out are 100% between the client nodes itself. The program was developed to get the last bit of speed/ping time thats possible. And to know, that no other data than the game packets itself is send to the internet.
From developer I asked if this could work with PS3 and he said, YES.

133w ago - According to SideQuesting.com (linked above), Google TV is rumored to be heading to Sony's PlayStation 3 entertainment system as part of a Spring 2011 update.
Currently Google TV is already integrated into upcoming Sony Blu-ray players including the NSZ-GT1, so although the rumor is unconfirmed thus far for PS3 it does seem to make sense.
To quote: "Sony currently provides both Netflix and Hulu Plus apps to its users, as well as Sony Pictures films over PSN. The PS3 also allows for networked streaming. It is clear that not only does Sony want the PS3 to be a gaming hub, but the premiere multimedia hub of the home as well.
GoogleTV provides the ability to view any media at any time, web or live, something that few other devices accomplish effectively and no other gaming device can do. This is a huge advantage for Sony of they can extend Android's reach.
With Google TV having the ability to include apps, this provides a quicker method of acquiring many of the same apps that the Xbox has (Last.fm, Twitter, Facebook) and more. The PS3 can more accurately become an "everything to everyone" product if it has access to all of the...

133w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has unveiled details today on the free Assassin's Creed Brotherhood PS3-exclusive DLC coming from Ubisoft.
To quote: Today, our friends at Ubisoft shared with us details of Copernicus Conspiracy, a free, PS3-exclusive download for Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.
This additional content revolves around Renaissance astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus (see what I did there?), who will have extra assignments for Ezio, including courier, assassination and protection missions.
The missions are part of a storyline involving a conspiracy against Copernicus and his heliocentric philosophy, which was revolutionary at the time.
The Copernicus Conspiracy content will be available for free download on November 16, 2010, which happens to be the day Assassin's Creed Brotherhood launches for PlayStation 3.
