170w ago - Today SCEE's James Gallagher has shared an interview with Dax Ginn on Batman: Arkham City for the PS3 entertainment system from Gamescom 2011.

To quote: I remember the day my copy of Arkham Asylum arrived at the office because I hadn't followed the game's development too closely and, when I took it home just to check out what my colleagues had been raving about, I finished it that same weekend.

As a result, I've had a keen eye on Arkham City, so yesterday I swooped over to the Warner Brothers [Register or Login to view links] area and watched a demo of the new challenge maps, which offer a high-score chasing, combo-stringing alternative to the meat and drink of the story campaign.

Compeered by Dax Ginn, marketing game manager at Rocksteady Studios, two members of the dev team played through identical challenge maps on different TVs - one as Batman and one as Catwoman - in a face-off as a small group of journalists watched the stereoscopic 3D beatdown.

Afterwards, I caught up with Dax to discuss the gamescom build of Arkham City and their approach to character development with this sequel.

What do you have to show us in this build of Arkham City?

At E3 and San Diego Comic-Con we showed...

170w ago - SCEE's James Gallagher has posted up a Ninja Gaiden 3 PS3 Gamescom 2011 video trailer and interview with Yosuke Hayashi today, as follows:

There are some people out there that will tell you modern games are too easy, that they hold your hand for ten hours of story and then wave goodbye until next year's sequel. However, there is growing number of titles, such as the upcoming Dark Souls, that are looking to punish you like a Victorian headmaster.

The Ninja Gaiden series has always been a renowned controller clencher and the third instalment in the series, coming to PS3 next year, includes PlayStation Move support. Here's the latest trailer:

At [Register or Login to view links] I caught up with the head of [Register or Login to view links], Yosuke Hayashi, to discuss difficulty, PS Move and the decision to set the opening scenes of Ninja Gaiden 3 in my hometown, London.

Do you think that modern games are too easy and that there is a strong market for the very difficult?

You have to try to satisfy your fans and Ninja Gaiden 3 is still very difficult on the hardest setting for those fans who like that about...

550°
170w ago - Today Dutch site PSFocus.nl (linked above) reports that the upcoming PlayStation 3 title Rage will require an 8GB mandatory PS3 HDD installation.

The XBox 360 will also offer an optional HDD install of 21-22GB in size, and the game is scheduled for release to both platforms on October 4 in North America and October 7, 2011 in Europe.

To quote, roughly translated: While our boys on the floors of the gamescom stumble around, we get it all within about RAGE. Tim Willits of Bethesda took the liberty to PSFocus a few details to release about RAGE.

The Internet is already known that there is an optional installation available for the Xbox 360 which is up to 21/22 GB. PlayStation 3 gamers have fortunately not much free space.

With a mandatory installation of 8 GB PlayStation 3 gamers can play the game. Yet a large number of gigabytes on your HDD, but fortunately not 22 GB. We also have picked up some of our loyal Faunus (Roel Wijts).

The controls are also adjustable in RAGE. For example, if you find more comfortable to shoot with R1 instead of R2 which is the default, you can always alter it. So are you a true gamer Call of Duty, you can take the controls more convenient way in this game.
