PS3Index Now Includes PS3, PSP and PSN Games in Database

152w ago - Huge update today making PS3 Index imho look less crappy. You can now view a large database of PS3, PSP and PSN games, including these fields:

  • Title ID
  • Title
  • PSP System Version
  • Release Name
  • Release Number
  • ISO Size
  • ISO CRC

Still looking for people to submit PS3 games (I was having a problem with it recently). You can use the online submission here (Guide) or use the windows application here to do so.

A dedicated page lists every update published for PS3 games (here) and you can search for the games title id that you need updates for.

Game updates are also available directly from the PS3 database viewer itself.

I'm looking at getting a devkit soon so that I can start making PS3 based applications. One that I would be looking forward to is the dumping of verification data from retail disks. The idea would be that the verification data could be retrieved from online, and used to ensure backups are 100% the same as the original - kind of like abgx does for certain parts...

Video: inFamous 2: The Beast is Coming to PlayStation 3

152w ago - Today Game Director Nate Fox at Sucker Punch Productions has posted up a new inFamous 2 video dubbed The Beast is Coming to the PlayStation 3 entertainment system.

To quote: Here at Sucker Punch we're tired. We're whipped. Game development is a sprint. You run as hard as you can, then keep running.

The problem is the goal line sometimes move mid-race. When you set out to make a game you sort of have an idea of what it'll ultimately be... but that's not what it ends up being. You only know what you've made once it's done. Like you guys we experience the game, the real game, for the first time at the end of the road. And it's exciting.

It's crazy to be playing the game and forget that you made it because you're busy ducking an RPG rocket. You know that feeling you get when you actually dodge in your seat? Get that all the time.

Cole and his friends have stopped being polygons and actors and have become real people. And it's this reality that makes today's post cool. Now that we're so, so close to being done we can finally really talk about the "Big Bad" that pushes the whole story forward.

What's the Beast, you ask? Like a meteor from outer space...

Video: LightBox Interactive Answers Starhawk PS3 Questions

152w ago - Today LightBox Interactive President Dylan Jobe has answered some Starhawk PS3 questions alongside some fresh video footage below.

To quote: We all know a good reveal is just the first step in making our fans happy and we're looking forward to showing you guys even more tasty Starhawk content and get you more plugged into the Starhawk universe!

So the other day I asked all of you on Twitter to send me Starhawk questions that you wanted to get answered, and while we're still planning on doing a full FAQ post here on the PlayStation.Blog, I wanted to take a few of the questions that were popular and answer them straight away. Here goes:

Does Starhawk have two flight modes?

YES. Initially we wanted to have Starhawk use only a single flight mode so that all players were unified. We worked a lot on this but ultimately decided that the needs of a newbie player and the needs of a hardcore Warhawk fan were just too far apart and we weren't willing to make the compromises needed to jam everyone into a single flight mode.

So... Starhawk has two flight modes and both are great! The default mode is very simple and great for new to mid-level players (and yes, reverse aiming issues have been fixed). It's a re-vamped version of our "arcade mode" (but...

Video: MotorStorm Apocalypse: Multiplayer Q&A for PlayStation 3

152w ago - Sony's Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has shared a video Q&A today on MotorStorm Apocalypse: Multiplayer for the PlayStation 3 entertainment system.

To quote: With online multiplayer back in full swing, legions of MotorStorm Apocalypse owners are already enjoying this chaotic racer's enhanced 16-player races.

But not so long ago, we solicited your MotorStorm Apocalypse questions via Twitter and posed them to Evolution Studios Art Director Simon O'Brien to get the full story.

Jeff learned more about the artificial intelligence improvements, why a certain degree of "rubber-banding" is necessary for competitive races, how epic events mid-race can upset your carefully laid plans, and how MotorStorm Apocalypse takes its multiplayer cues from online shooters in the form of deeply customizable vehicles and races.

O'Brien also details how players earn XP in the form of "Chips" that unlock new emblems, vehicle parts, and other customization options that affect your racing style – whether it's sneaky and strategic or fiercely aggressive.
