Video: Aliens: Colonial Marines PS3 Q&A - Not Bad For a Human

170w ago - SCEE's James Gallagher has shared a video and Q&A on Colonial Marines for the PS3 today, as follows:

I checked out Aliens: Colonial Marines when I popped over to the SEGA gamescom booth to say hi to a friend and, within minutes, it became one my highlights of the show.

I'm not as familiar with the Aliens films as many - I remember seeing one of them on TV as a child and not sleeping well for a few days - but judging it purely as a shooter, it is looking very impressive.

The level shown was a beautifully lit labyrinth of corridors on-board a craft sent to investigate LV-426, 11 months after Ripley escaped in [Register or Login to view links].

The most memorable aspect for me was the animation of the Xenomorphs and my skin is crawling as I type just thinking about them. This added to the level design, which always leaves you feeling exposed as creatures pour from every angle and air vent, produces an unnerving shooter that piles on the tension.

After the demo, I spoke with Gearbox Chief Creative Officer Brian Martel about working with such an iconic IP and why his team is best suited to bringing the essence of the Aliens films to the interactive space.

170w ago - Naughty Dog Community Strategist Arne Meyer has shared a video today unboxing Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Collector's Edition for the PS3 entertainment system.

To quote: Well, we've managed to steal, er, borrow, a production sample of the UNCHARTED 3: Drake's Deception Collector's Edition.

We had a little help from our friend Nolan North, otherwise known as Nathan Drake in the UNCHARTED games.

Nolan stopped by the Naughty Dog studio with our ill-gotten sample of the Collector's Edition and we couldn't resist to shoot an unboxing video to give our fans a good look at what actually comes inside the awesome looking traveling case.

We're really excited to be able to check out, in person, our first ever Collector's Edition version of a Naughty Dog developed game. Watch the video below to see Nolan give you a firsthand account.

This UNCHARTED 3: Drake's Deception Collector's Edition will be released in North America on November 1 for $99.99.

The entire Collector's Edition will come housed in a very cool looking reproduction of a traveling chest - it's got exclusive exterior artwork, comes with a lid that is held shut by a magnet and contains storage areas for all of the goodies that come with the Collector's...

multiMAN v02.04.00 Update (20110824-152900) Changelog:

  • Added: Option in XMMB Settings column: [Write access to /dev_flash via /dev_blind]

It means that you can enable write access to /dev_flash (using /dev_blind mount point) and manipulate its contents via FTP or File Manager mode. I used it to replace the .sprx files to disable Cinavia Protection (works!).

Files must be replaced in /dev_blind/vsh/module/ using either FTP or file manager mode in multiMAN. Actually it is quite easy to create a small standalone installer to do...

Video: Need for Speed: The Run PS3 - 200 Racers, One Avalanche

300°
170w ago - Today Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Rey Gutierrez has made available some video footage of Need for Speed: The Run on PS3 - featuring 200 racers and one big avalanche!

To quote: Interactive cinemas, fast cars and loud tunes propelled The Run at E3, but all along EA Black Box was quietly scheming to reveal more at Gamescom.

In my play session, I chased after a pearl white Laborghini Aventador down a treacherous mountain road on Independence Pass in Colorado. Then it happened: I found myself staring at an oncoming avalanche from behind the wheel of my car, plowing and drifting through chaos while I sat comfortably in a dark room at EA's show floor.

I couldn't help but smile after my demo session with Need for Speed: The Run, knowing that I finally got to play a true-to-form Michael-Bay-inspired Hollywood action racer on my PS3.

I got a few minutes with DeLong and picked his brain about a retaining the authenticity and how the high-tech Frostbite rendering engine opens up new storytelling vistas for this action racer.
