Video: OOSK - OpenOSK PS3 Open On-Screen Keyboard Arrives

172w ago - This weekend Spanish PlayStation 3 developer blipi has shared some videos demonstrating a PS3 open on-screen keyboard based on Tiny3D and libfont from Hermes that other developers can incorporate into their homebrew releases.

To quote, roughly translated: Well, I thought that maybe someone of interest. It is designed for programmers and a framework in C++.

This is an OSK (On-Screen Keyboard) for the development of homebrews. Since I did not get to show the PS3 by psl1ght OSK decided to make one. Thinking about thinking I decided that maybe someone else saw this, so I decided to share my work: [Register or Login to view links]

It is released under GNU GPL, under which you can freely use the code, but any modification is above code should be released or before uploading it to the repository or enviandomela to me for the climb.

Is still in development, so has a lot of functionality to be added yet.

New PS3 METLDR Revision in CECH-2504 May Block Downgrading

172w ago - Today the Spanish PlayStation 3 developer dospiedras1973 who recently revealed both the PS3 Firmware 3.6x Downgrade via Infectus and PS3 3.7x Downgrade for Slims and Fats with NOR Flash has discovered what he believes may be a new PS3 METLDR revision in a CECH-2504 console (shipped with 3.60 Firmware) that blocks downgrading.

Below are his findings, roughly translated: New revision of blocks metldr downgrade for that guys, I found a console factory cech2504 with fw 3.60 and I found this:

The console in question was a cech2504 with Datecode 1B. I guess that's where that will forward all Datecode and not downgrade for the moment

Lookin through the notice and the toil of extracting the rules and be 6 hours trying the downgrade...
 

Guerrilla Games Details Killzone 3 PS3 Patch 1.12, Hits Next Week

172w ago - Today Von Victor Zuylen at Guerrilla Games has shared details on the upcoming Killzone 3 PS3 patch 1.12 which arrives next week on September 6, 2011.

Below are the details, to quote: On Tuesday, September 6, Guerrilla will release patch 1.12 for Killzone 3.

This patch introduces several community-requested changes to Killzone 3, including an adjustment to the Marksman's scramble ability, better turrets for the Engineer, and an option to switch off Sixaxis-only actions for players with disabilities.

Here is the full list of changes included with patch 1.12:

CAREERS:

• Changed Marksman's scramble ability into an active ability - The marksman scramble ability now needs to be activated and deactivated via the d-pad, and has a cooldown period.
• Increased tracking response for engineer turrets - The turn speed of turrets has been increased, allowing them to track players more easily.
• Increased armor for engineer turrets (30%) - Turrets can still be destroyed by a single explosion from a grenade or missile launcher.

WEAPONS:

• Improved StA-2 Battle Pistol - Detonation time for the StA-2 Battle Pistol's grenade is shorter, and the damage it deals is more severe.

To quote: If you've been following the development of Amy, you probably know that we're trying to make a unique survival-horror game for PSN.

We're working hard to bring a different gameplay based on a deep interaction between Lana, a young woman who is the lead character, and Amy, an eight year-old child, set in a horrific environment. Soon, we'll give you many more details on some of the key elements of the gameplay.

But for now, we wanted to show you that, even for a downloadable game, we're trying our best to bring you real flesh-and-blood characters. You can meet two of them in the new videos below.
