133w ago - As a follow-up to his previous work, today graf_chokolo has done it again and posted his code for decryption of PS3 SELF files using appldr.

Looks like he still can't decrypt game or NPDRMs selfs but soon pehaps.

I used only HV calls in my code because i wanted to learn how to decrypt SELFs without GameOS. The decryption and decompression of SELFs is done by isolated module appldr which is prepared and loaded by lv1_undocumented_function_99. After appldr is loaded it sends a message and waits for your instructions to decrypt some encrypted segments. When the message arrives i pass encrypted segment data to appldr through shared memory and it decrypts the passed data. When the decryption is done the payload sends the decrypted data over network to my PC and i capture it with tcpdump

I’m using IDA to analyze the decrypted code....

133w ago - Today Logic-Sunrise.com (linked above) reports that shinhalsafar is developing on a Dolphin-PS3 (GameCube/Wii) WIP Emulator for PS3 JailBreak users.

133w ago - Today Jack Chen aka anita999 has shared a PlayStation 3 IDA IDC hypervisor dump script on xorloser's blog (linked above) alongside a PS3 Debug / Test Firmware version 3.41 leak from Blackpen0 there as well!

For those curious, the IDA script is used to extract the protection page list of process obj in PS3 Hypervisor dumps.

You must execute the HV_DUMP.IDC from xorloser first, then apply this IDC later because it requires a opd_table to be defined first. and it’s for 3.15 HV only because that’s the only HV dump I have. process 0 is not extractable. There seems some data missing in the process object of process 0.

133w ago - Insomniac Games Creative Director Marcus Smith has shared a preview video and confirmed today that a Resistance 3 PS3 gameplay trailer is set to debut at the VGAs.

133w ago - Today Sony Producer Daimion Pinnock has confirmed that Dead Nation on PSN will be receiving online voice chat soon!

To quote: We know some Dead Nation online co-op players have requested voice chat functionality.

I'm here to tell you that we've listened to the fans and are taking steps to add voice chat for online co-op in the near future. To reiterate this point, here's a note from the team at Housemarque:

We know some of you are frustrated by the lack of voice chat support in Dead Nation's online co-op mode. We realize many players have been very eager to join up and start taking care of the zombie nation and we greatly appreciate the continued support.

Therefore, the team is currently working on the addition of voice chat capability and hope to introduce it as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, we're keen to get as much feedback on the game as possible so we can further improve what we think is a great zombie game. We'll be sure to keep everyone posted via the PlayStation.Blog and our Dead Nation Facebook page on when they can expect the voice chat update.
