Eat Sleep Play Details Twisted Metal PS3 Release Update

50°
155w ago - Eat Sleep Play Co-Founder David Jaffe has shared a release update today for Twisted Metal PS3 fans, as follows:

David Jaffe here with some good news and bad news on behalf of myself, my [Register or Login to view links] partner and Twisted Metal co-director Scott Campbell, the entire Eat Sleep Play team, and Sony Santa Monica.

First the good news: Eat Sleep Play and Sony Santa Monica are cranking like mad to get a fantastic Twisted Metal build ready for both Gamescom and PAX Prime! For those not in the know:

Gamescom is August 17th-21st in Cologne, Germany and PAX Prime will take place here in America August 26th-28th in Seattle, Washington.

Both shows are open to the public but PAX - I believe- is already sold out. If you've got PAX Prime tickets, I can't wait to see you there! I hope you'll swing by the Twisted Metal booth and give our game a try!

At Gamescom and PAX we'll be showing off a brand new level called Thrills & Spills Amusement Park! It's one of our favorite all time Twisted Metal levels and it's filled with the over the top destruction, strategic level choices, and twisted humor that fans of the series have come to love and expect.

Players at both shows will also get hands on with TEAM HUNTED, a brand...

Team17 Announces Four New Worms 2: Armageddon DLC Packs

100°
155w ago - Today Community Manager Mark Baldwin at Team17 has announced that four new Worms 2: Armageddon PS3 DLC packs will be hitting PSN this month.

To quote: We have some exciting news for all you PlayStation 3 Worms fans out there - over the next month we have got some action-packed DLC packs for Worms 2: Armageddon set for release.

The first DLC pack we released last year was the destructive "Battle Pack", which had a nice mix of worm-y goodness, and was very well received by our passionate fans.

We also know that different [Register or Login to view links] players find different features of the game appealing, and people do have their favourites.

For example, some players like to spend time wracking their brains over the fiendishly-designed puzzles; others really enjoy demonstrating their 'leet' (their word!) heavy weapons skills in fort games, while others still prefer racing each other, or against the clock, using the ninja ropes and jet-packs.

We are also aware of the fondness that many fans have for the older titles that got people addicted to the wacky world of Worms in the first place. We are proud that our fans like the breadth of content that the game offers, and we hope that with these four new DLC packs we have...

The Unmapped Forest v0.1 PS3 Homebrew RPG in Development

350°
155w ago - Today ThatOtherPerson has made available a WIP of a PS3 homebrew RPG he calls The Unmapped Forest version 0.1 which is currently in development.

To quote: I've started making a new homebrew PS3 game. It will be an action RPG game but it is very early in development. It currently consists of a forest that you can wander around in and some slime monsters that will follow you. You can attack but you can't actually hurt the monsters and they can't hurt you. There will be PC and Wii versions later.

What I would like from you: For anybody that hasn't noticed already the hero sprite and chests are from Neutopia II, the slime monsters are from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and the grass and tree sprites are just ugly. I'm really more interested in programming then making sprites (I loathe drawing with a mouse) but I know there are a lot of people who are really into making sprites so I'm hoping that you might be one of them.

But I've tried the whole collaboration thing and it has consistently turned out to be a terrible idea. I'm not very fond of getting vague offers from...

Video: Resistance 3 PS3 Goes Gold, Bonus Content on the Disc

350°
155w ago - Insomniac Games Senior Community Manager James Stevenson has announced today that Resistance 3 PS3 has gone gold, and shared a new video trailer below alongside details on the bonus content on the disc.

To quote: I'm here today to bring the news that Resistance 3 has gone gold, and has been delivered to manufacturing for its September 6th release date.

Everyone here at Insomniac is excited for you to get your hands on the game we've been working so hard on for the last three years. Even now, our work isn't complete, as we are actively working on the Online Beta, and will be bringing a Day 1 Patch to the game to bring updates and tweaks to the final product.

The public beta begins today for folks who have codes from SOCOM 4, so we're looking forward to fragging you online.

In celebration of our gold announcement, we wanted to give you the first look at a brand new gameplay trailer from Resistance 3. For those of you who have followed R3 since the announcement of the game at GamesCom last year, this trailer brings things full circle.

I don't want to spoil it, so take a look below:

Hope you enjoyed the trailer, and now that we've gone gold, we thought this would be a good time to mention that we've...

Sputnik Cell / SPU Pipeline Viewer for PS3 ELF Files Arrives

250°
155w ago - Today PlayStation 3 developer Jon Rocatis has [Register or Login to view links] news of a Spusim clone called Sputnik Cell / SPU Pipeline Viewer, which is useful for those into low-level SPU analysis and optimization of PS3 object and ELF files.

Download: [Register or Login to view links] (Windows) / [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] (MAC)

To quote: Sputnik is a Cell/SPU Pipeline viewer. According to Wikipedia Sputnik means “co-traveler” or “traveling companion” and I hope Sputnik will be accompanying you on your future SPU coding adventures!

It’s somewhat of a clone of IBM’s spusim tool. That tool has some things that annoys me and is lacking some features that I would like, so I ended up writing my own!

First of all spusim locks the files you have loaded which is annoying – also it has no recent-files or anything like that. Sputnik has that and will even auto-load the most recently opened file at startup and go to the function you looked at last. Sputnik is able to load both object files and ELF-files.
