139w ago - SCEE's Ross McGrath of the PlayStation Store Team has posted up this weeks European PSN game updates today, as follows:
Hello all - Two new PSN games hit today for PS3 owners, complete with trials - the much anticipated Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes (20% day-one discount for Plussers) and Konami's classic franchise reboot of Rush n' Attack: Ex Patriot.
We've also got loads of DLC for retail and digital releases, allowing you to expand your play time with Moon Diver, Motorstorm Apocalypse, Funky Lab Rat and Bulletstorm to name but a few.
An exciting new range of XMB customisation options launches in the form of 'The Studio' - a brand new set of dynamic and premium themes designed by the hottest artists around, including Anthony Burrill, Mr Jago and Rexbox (who's work you might recognise from LBP). They're pretty funky themes and Plus members not only get a free theme, but a blanket discount on all current and future 'The Studio' themes. How generous is that?!
139w ago - Update: PS3 hacker Graf Chokolo's house has now been raided a second time according to court documents and a post on his blog which states, to quote: "SONY was at my home today again, with a new TRO against me. They took my whole equipment again and told me to stop my OtherOS project or else . , guys.
They definitely do not want OtherOS back on PS3. They want me to take down all my OtherOS and PS3 utils. Make sure to clone all my GIT repositories. I don't think you want me to stop, guys, do you ? Tell me what you think.
To give up would mean for me to betray my principles guys, so, the next question is what is more worth to me, my life or my principles. Keep my principles and destroy my life or to trample on my principles and save my life ? Most of you know only my work and don't really know my personality, the guy who stands behind graf_chokolo. I'm proud how my parents brought me up, they tought to me to fight for my principles and what is right. To be a man of principles is not an easy task."
139w ago - Evolution Studios Games Director Matt Southern has posted up a video announcing that MotorStorm Apocalypse PS3 DLC launches today on PSN.
To quote: The timing of MotorStorm Apocalypse hasn't exactly been ideal.
I remember waking on the morning of the Friday, near the end of what was already a pretty heavy week gearing up for European release, switching on the news and being stunned. My first thought wasn't for the game, but for our Japanese Producer and his family.
Just a short while after the devastation he emailed me to apologise for having to suspend the ongoing tests for MotorStorm! That sums him up, and his fellow countrymen - courageous, unflappable and so gracious, even in the face of such tragedy. It really put everything into perspective. We did the right thing when we decided to delay it.
Now that we're available in Europe (and soon to be released in the US), it's time to make good on our promises to everyone already playing the game and start unveiling some of our add-ons. I hate calling it 'DLC'; it makes it sound like a spreadsheet template or something.
First-up, you've got two weeks from today to pick up the ultimate 'Stormer status symbol: the Supercar...
139w ago - Today Jacob Pennock has shared some PS3 demo video footage of a PlayStation Move Linux mouse driver he built based off Sony's upcoming Move.Me library.
Also below is a Gestural Interaction PS3 demo video, essentially a wand-based Linux Media Center using the PS3 Move controller.
To quote from his blog (linked above): A couple weeks ago at the game developers conference Sony announced a new product called moved.me which is basically a C library that allows you to connect the move controller to your computer.
Is currently in closed beta and I just got access to it this past Thursday. I spent my weekend playing with it and so far I've built a Linux mouse driver.
Since the Sony software is still closed I'm going to hang on to the source code at the moment, but hopefully by the time it goes public I will be up to polish this up into a nice wand gesture-based Linux Media Center.
