Dragon's Crown Update: Atlus Publishing Title for PS3 and PS Vita

250°
118w ago - Atlus Manager of Public Relations and Sales Aram Jabbari has confirmed today that they will be publishing the upcoming video game entitled Dragon's Crown for both PS3 and PS Vita platforms.

To quote: You know how you're really excited for something and then something happens and you get even more excited?

Like that time you found out they were making a movie for The Hobbit and you were excited... but kinda bummed that Peter Jackson wouldn't be directing it.

But guess what happened: Peter Jackson announced that he would in fact direct it, and you got a heck of a lot more excited. Right?

Remember Dragon's Crown, the next project from Vanillaware announced at last E3, a multiplayer action RPG with beautiful hand-drawn visuals slated to come to PS3 and PS Vita?

BREAKING NEWS: Atlus is taking over publishing duties in Japan and North America! What's more, key (and very talented) members of the Atlus internal development team will be involved with the project as producer(s).

You know, some of the people who've worked on games in the critically acclaimed Persona series. Yeah, we know: we're stoked, too!

What does this mean for the game? For one, it means that it's going to be better than ever. It will, however, come a bit later than originally...

118w ago - Sony Product Manager Mayumi Donovan has announced today that Paint Park, Treasure Park and Wake Up Club are coming to PS Vita for free!

To quote: PlayStation Vita owners can look forward to a trio of free applications to help you make the most of the handheld console's unique features, the first of which will be available to download this week, on April 18.

Turning the PS Vita's impressive 5" OLED screen into a sketch pad, Paint Park is fun for beginners and expert artists alike.

Using PS Vita's touchscreen to make and share drawings; you can doodle, sketch and scribble quickly and easily with the virtual markers and on-screen colour palette.

The PS Vita's front and rear cameras can play a part too, as you can take pictures and add your own creative imaginings to them.

Simple and fun Paint Park can also be a socially rewarding as users can share their work and even compete with up to five friends in the online multiplayer via the Ad Hoc mode.

This summer we'll be releasing Treasure Park, an application that allows you to create your own puzzles to challenge your friends with. It's a great way to connect with friends and other PS Vita users, as you can use the near application and 3G to find puzzles to play and share your own, wherever you are.

Video: Hands-On: Deadmau5 SoundShapes Stage for PS Vita

118w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has gone hands-on today with some video footage of the Deadmau5 SoundShapes stage for PS Vita below.

To quote: It's no secret that electronica artist [Register or Login to view links] signed on with Toronto-based Queasy Games to collaborate on the upcoming PS Vita musical platformer Sound Shapes.

But last week we finally tasted the succulent fruits of that creative collaboration.

During a media showcase in New York City, Sound Shapes Producer Jason deGroot kindly demonstrated a new set of levels (a "Record" in the game's lingo) that featured audio effects provided by the mousey maestro and pixelicious art courtesy of indie developer [Register or Login to view links].

You can analyze the results for yourself below - headphones recommended!

It's worth noting that deadmau5's album tracks, such as the pop cut "Ghosts 'n Stuff," won't be appearing in Sound Shapes. And that's by design: the game's interactive soundtrack synthesizes with your platforming progress, making each "performance" a unique arrangement.

But deadmau5's sounds, loops, and rhythms are showcased in a dedicated set of levels. Better yet, his library will be available when it comes time to construct custom...
