Sony on How Battlefield Hardline PS4 Takes Cues from Hollywood

50°
14w ago - Sony Content Producer Tom Wallis shared details today on how Battlefield Hardline on PS4 and PS3 takes cues from Hollywood below.

To quote: Battlefield Hardline made a big splash when it was announced in July this year - with a wealth of multiplayer modes teased and a beta test that saw hundreds of thousands of gamers get an early taste of the action.

However, developer Visceral Games (Dead Space, Dante's Inferno) has been rather more quiet about what you can expect from the single-player campaign. So, PlayStation.Blog sat down with Senior Producer Steve Anthony, who's helping to bring the single-player portion of the game to PlayStation in early 2015.

"At Visceral we're very proud of our lineage when it comes to single-player stories," explains Anthony. "What we've done for Battlefield Hardline is to take influence from popular television crime dramas and built a campaign that will unfold in episodic format. That means each episode of the campaign will have character development, intense moments, and cliff hanging endings."

Create a game that plays out like your favorite cop drama? An intriguing prospect, but exactly how are they looking to accomplish this lofty ambition?

"In order to do that we've brought on some key talent from Hollywood," he continues. "So...

15w ago - Sony Network Entertainment VP Eric Lempel invites PS4 fans to preload Destiny on PlayStation 4 now to prepare for it's release this coming Tuesday.

To quote: Hi everybody - Since we're just days away from the launch of [Register or Login to view links] on PS4 and PS3, I wanted to let you know that the game is now available for pre-load on PlayStation Store in the U.S., Canada and Latin America.

This means if you've pre-ordered Destiny digitally via PlayStation Store, you'll be able to begin downloading the game on PS4 or PS3 starting now. Once you've downloaded the game, you'll be ready for the official Destiny launch this Tuesday, September 9th.

Enter Insanity - The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth Hits PS4, PS Vita 11/4

50°
15w ago - Nicalis developer Tyrone Rodriguez invites PlayStation 4 and Vita fans to enter insanity in The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth which hits PS4 and Vita on November 4th, 2014.

To quote: Hello again! It's me, Tyrone Rodriguez, janitor at Nicalis, Inc. and producer on Legend of Raven (coming to PS4 and PS Vita) as well as The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (coming to PS4 and PS Vita on November 4th!), which I'll be talking about today.

If you're not familiar with The Binding of Isaac, it combines elements of The Legend of Zelda and Smash TV with the roguelike genre. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth literally features hundreds of items, weapons and power-ups all wrapped-up in an arcade-like experience.

And he said, "it'll be awesome to finally give console players a chance to experience the weirdest thing I've ever made." I've been working with him for two years and have to agree.

OK, so let's get into it.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth features over 500 hours of gameplay (not marketing fluff, it'll take you at least this long to unlock all the secrets in the game).

Each run will be different because the enemies, rooms, levels and drops are all randomly generated. Every time you beat the game or die and start a new game it'll be all-new and fresh.

Video: Destiny: Remote Play Hands-on for PS4 and PS Vita

50°
15w ago - Sony Social Media Senior Manager Sid Shuman posted up a video today showcasing Destiny remote play hands-on for PS4 and PS Vita consoles.

To quote: Destiny is just days away! I wanted to share a quick video showing off its Remote Play experience, which enables you to wirelessly stream the game from your PS4 to your PS Vita.

I spent some time playing Destiny via Remote Play during the Beta and I was really impressed with not only how good it looked on PS Vita's vivid 5-inch screen, but also how responsive it was. The team over at Bungie actually optimized the controls for Destiny on PS Vita via Remote Play.

Check out the full control scheme (below).

One of the things we noticed during the week of the Destiny Beta was that a lot of PS4 owners were streaming Destiny to their PS Vitas via Remote Play.

In fact, Destiny was the No. 1 title for Remote Play during the entire month of July, racking up the most Remote Play sessions of any PS4 title.
