No LittleBigPlanet Open BETA says Producer

100°
337w ago - The Community Development Manager (Sam Bennett) and Producer (Pete Smith) of LittleBigPlanet have again said that there will not be a LittleBigPlanet public open BETA.

Instead, the BETA test will be done by an internal group at Sony, but a small number of gamers and press may be invited to this. SCEE did previously say that the closed BETA would start this summer.

To quote: We had the opportunity to speak at length with various LittleBigPlanet producers at PlayStation Day, as well as get some hands-on time with the title. Top of our discussion list was the beta. We wanted to know as much as possible about when it's coming and have done since it was implied last July.

However both Sam Bennett (Community Development Manager) and Pete Smith (Producer) maintained that a public, open BETA will sadly not be happening. The game will go through a BETA phase, obviously, but this will be performed by an internal group at Sony.

There's a possibility of a small number of gamers and press being invited into the BETA phase, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Releasing the game in its entirety to the public, free of charge would be suicide.

Instead, there's talk of a demo being made available, which will curb our monstrous hunger pangs for the game until its October...

LittleBigPlanet closed BETA coming this summer

50°
338w ago - Kyle Schubel, senior producer at SCEA, has revealed that there will be a LittleBigPlanet closed BETA this summer. Schlubed confirmed that the game will "1 to 4 Players on 1 to 4 PS3s" which means "up to 4 player online and offline."

Schubel also said the game should see a full release in September or October.

To quote: Schubel confirmed the excellent multiplayer support - the game will support 1 to 4 players on 1 to 4 PS3s. That means up to 4 player online and offline. On the DLC side, there will be capacity for 1 million user-created levels on a planet, and the number of planets can be expanded.

And to filter through the inevitable mediocre (read: rubbish) levels, you'll be able to search by popularity, upload date, what your friends have been playing, other levels created by a user and ratings. Video below!

LittleBigPlanet story of new originality

250°
342w ago - When a studio start to make a video game in the 80's they didn't face any complication; because choosing a new idea was easy due to every idea at that time was an original ...

ideas like "Mario" a character that can prove for anyone that a video game series can't be killed by the producer if he know how to create new ideas for it...

The same thing come to our mind when you think about MGS series where "Snake" represent a solider that does not care about anything for the sake of his mission, the always new story & the new technology makes the games fresh to its fans. The list goes on & on and if we need examples for the topic of originality we will need Documentary to talk about them all.

This time sure will not last forever & sure the lack of originality time will come - that's if not already come -, a time where all producers seeking the customer's bucket, a time need a savior to save this great industry from the falling in the trap of the boredom!

In times like this we need a new ideas, a new games & a new original ones, & fortunately it is there in the horizon; a game that will make you laugh at the first sight ... a game will make every developer before gamers think about sharing ideas...
The game is "Little Big Planet" & its created studio is "Media...

LittleBigPlanet potentially Sony's biggest game of 2008, demo unlikely

50°
347w ago - Sony's senior product manager Nick Robinson has said that "LittleBigPlanet is potentially our biggest Blu-ray release of 2008. We definitely see it as a triple-A Blu-ray release and will be a full price product."

He also confirmed plans for an open beta for the game before release that will focus on the creation and sharing aspects of the game. Robinson said that he is unsure if there will be a demo of the game.

To quote: "It's not like you will get to play the full game early," he said. "It will focus on the create and share side of things. The potential for people to break the game is amazing."

However, it looks unlikely that we'll see a demo of the game. "I'm not sure," Robinson said when asked. "How do you do a Little Big Planet demo? If we put up a level people will just finish it."

He added: "You can't sum it up in a press release. And in some respects you can't sum it up in trailers."
