225w ago - Today some of the top XBox 360 hackers at Free60 have warned NOT to update your XBox 360 with the summer update, as a FULL homebrew exploit is coming!
To quote: Dangerous Xbox 360 Update Killing Homebrew
On Tuesday, Microsoft has released an Xbox 360 software update that overwrites the first stage bootloader of the system. Although there have been numerous software updates for Microsoft's gaming console in the past, this is the first one to overwrite the vital boot block.
Any failure while updating this will break the Xbox 360 beyond repair. Statistics from other systems have shown that about one in a thousand bootloader updates goes wrong, and unless Microsoft has a novel solution to this problem, this puts tens of thousands of Xboxes at risk.
It seems that this update is being done to fix a vulnerability already known to the Free60 Project. This vulnerability has been successfully exploited to run arbitrary code, and a complete end user compatible hack has been in development for some time and is planned to be released on free60.org shortly.
It will allow users to take back control of their Xboxes and run arbitrary code like homebrew applications or Linux right...
226w ago - Today Geremia has released FreeKey on the XBox-Scene forums (linked above). This is a FREE decrypter tool for the XBox 360 Lite-On DG-16D2S drive with Firmware 83850c.
Yes, thats right! Just days after the release of the iXtreme 1.6 F/W for the Lite-On 83850c, hackers decided hey, why should we pay someone to "decrypt" our DVD keys like fools? We can make an app to do it our selves.
And they did, Geremia and Max slapped together an app pack that will decrypt the key from a 83850c dump made using LO83info and freekeys. Good Job!
Also available above is the iX 1.6 AIO Pack 83850c, with the readme notes below for each:
If using Windows
1 - Download and install Portio32 Package
2 - unpack Lo83info_32.exe
3 - Connect your Liteon 83850c drive to your PC via SATA
4 - Run Lo83info_32.exe (sata port) and follow the prompts
5 - A file will be saved with a drive unique name as a .bin
6 - Run...
227w ago - Today Vogster Entertainment's Senior Producer Mike Kennedy has announced that Unbound Saga for PSP is going digital, and has posted some free codes as follows:
Yes, Unbound Saga is available for download only. You can't walk into Gamezoinks, or wherever else you typically buy your disc-based gaming fix, and walk out with a plastic box full of brawling Unbound goodness.
You can, however, buy this game from the comfort of your own home, while still in your bathrobe and bunny slippers. Click-click-clack, simple as that. Super easy, and all you need is an internet connection and a PlayStation Network account. And a PlayStation device to play the game on, of course.
But why would Vogster, or any other publisher for that matter, buck the trend and do something as radical as bypassing brick-and-mortar? What do we have against the good people at Gamezoinks? Nothing at all, I assure you (In fact, we just made that name up.). But the benefits of digital distribution cannot be overlooked.
For the consumer, digital download offers unparalleled convenience. If you want it, you can have it NOW, regardless of weather, bus schedules, gas prices, etc. RIGHT NOW. In fact, I just bought the first three seasons of Dexter from the PlayStation Store while writing this. My fingers barely left...

228w ago - A PlayStation 3 gamer has filed suit (PDF) in U.S. District Court in California, alleging that SCEA suppressed his free speech rights and caused him pain and suffering by banning his account on the PlayStation Network.
In a complaint filed on July 6th, Erik Estavillo of San Jose writes that he is disabled by a variety of disorders; among these are agoraphobia, a fear of crowds, to quote:
The pain and suffering was caused by the defendant, Sony, banning the plaintiff's account on the PlayStation 3 Network, in which the plaintiff relies on to socialize with other people, since it's the only way the plaintiff can truly socialize since he also suffers from Agoraphobia...
Estavillo's issues with SCEA apparently stem from his play of the PS3 hit Resistance: Fall of Man:
The ban is supposedly due to the behavior of the plaintiff when he plays the video game "Resistance: Fall of Man," which Sony owns and employs moderators for its online play. These moderators kick and ban players that they feel are deserving; though their biases to a player seem to be what determines the kick or ban...
The plaintiff was exercising his First Amendment Rights to Freedom of Speech in the game's public forum when he...
