50°
336w ago - The official European PlayStation Fourms have revealed that from Monday 14 April onwards, you will need to log in to the Forums with your PSN Sign-In ID (email address) and PSN password.

In preparation for the change, the Eu PlayStation Forums will be offline for one week from midnight on Sunday 6 April until noon on Monday 14 April.

To quote Lestrade (Community Team Coordinator): I have an update for you on the introduction of PLAYSTATION Network authentication on the PlayStation Forums: we will now be launching this new functionality on Monday 14 April.

From Monday 14 April onwards, you will need to log in to the Forums with your PSN Sign-In ID (email address) and PSN password. Your Forum name (i.e. the name that will appear on your public profile and next to your forum posts) will be your PSN Online ID.

If you haven't already, please make sure that you have linked your Forum account with your PSN. Guidance on how to do this can be found here. But don't worry if you don't manage to link your accounts in time, you will be able to log in to the forums and post using any valid PSN account.

To allow us to update the Forums in preparation for this change, they will be offline for one week from midnight on Sunday 6 April until noon on Monday 14 April.

SCEE quiet on 2.30 details, how new PS Store will be deployed

50°
337w ago - SCEE refused to be drawn on details of Firmware 2.30 this morning, following yesterday's confirmation that the PS3 software update would be needed to use the new version of PlayStation Store, to be released in mid-April in both the US and Europe.

To quote: We have made no official announcement of the details of Firmware 2.30 or exactly how the new Store will be deployed, a rep stated.

If the information released yesterday was correct, there should be a full Firmware release in the next two weeks, straight off the back of 2.20, which added BD-Live functionality only last week. Time will tell for sure...

337w ago - Update: Sony has officially confirmed that the new PlayStation Store interface will also be coming to North America in mid-April.

To quote: Customers will be able to access, browse, shop and download content as usual prior to the store's re-opening. However, no additional downloadable content will be posted prior to then, including this Thursday, April 3rd, and next Thursday, April 10th.

Regularly scheduled content updates will resume with the Store's re-opening, at which time additional games and game-related items will be added, including the downloadable version of the highly-anticipated exclusive PS3 title Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.

Sony has released 3 sample images of the new design for the PlayStation store and said that "Content will be suspended for two weeks while the improvements are carried out but users can look forward to a special update in mid-April."

Sony has also reportedly told the media that the PlayStation Store face lift on PS3 will no longer use the PS3 Web browser, and will require new firmware upgrade version 2.30. The facelift is said to be much faster and cache all images correctly.

Sony has yet to confirm the facelift release...
