Activision want Harmonix to cough up the cash for guitar patch

50°
371w ago - And so we have finally got down to what this PS3 guitar compatibility patch is all about - cold hard cash. An Activision spokeswoman has been quoted as saying that any agreement between them and Harmonix will involve Harmonix writing out a check as Activision believe they should be compensated for use of their technology.

To quote: Activision spokeswoman Maryanne Lataif said her company was willing to work with Harmonix to make the various game controllers fully compatible with one another. "Unfortunately for Rock Band users, Harmonix has been unwilling to discuss an agreement that will allow us to provide that option in a manner that maintains the high standards people have come to expect from Activision," Lataif said.

She added that any agreement will involve someone at Harmonix writing a check. "We believe we should be compensated for the use of our technology," said Lataif.

Assassin's Creed PS3 issues still exist, despite patch

50°
373w ago - Ubisoft may have released a patch for the PS3 version of Assassin's Creed, but unfortunately a number of gamers are reporting that the patch did nothing for them and the game is still freezing in various places.

To quote from the link above:

LOL - dont expect too much guys.

I was skeptic - and rightfully so. I downloaded the 25 MB update. Game launched and I tried to continue my game.

Altair froze on the blue loading screen - AS USUAL.

THIS UPDATE DID NOTHING FOR ME....

Operation: (Warhawk) Omega Dawn

50°
374w ago - According to Dylan Jobe (Game Director, Warhawk): We've just finished development of our v1.2 patch and our first Booster Pack, Operation: Omega Dawn!... which is very different than "Red Dawn" or "Dawn of the Dead".

I'd like to give our blog readers a bit of info on our first downloadable content - and I'll try to keep in away from sounding to much like a sales-pitch filled with shallow marketing-speak. The team and I really wanted the Omega Dawn Booster pack to add a new gameplay experience and to enhance the replay value of the core Warhawk game. Not be some nickel-and-dime upgrade that takes advantage of our player community!!! (That's my own personal opinion on DLC so I'll get off my soapbox now)

So without further ado...

The Omega Dawn Booster pack adds 3 key things:

* A night-time battlefield with 6 layouts called the "Omega Factory". It's huge btw.
* New 7-player aircraft called the KT-424 Combat Dropship.
* And 5 updated bonus layouts for battlefields from the original game so that you can play using the new Dropship.

First let me ramble on about the new battlefield: Many of you all wanted a night time level so that's what we did. The battlefield takes place at night well... actually at early dawn. We wanted to...

BioShock Patches, Free Plasmid DLC to Hit Next Week

50°
374w ago - Publisher 2K Games sends word that a few BioShock patches will be released next week, in addition to a free downloadable content pack for the hit game.

2K community manager Elizabeth Tobey tells Shacknews that the DLC will at least include extra plasmids for players to mess around with, a way to disable Vita-Chambers for hardcore play, and bug fixes.

The patches will also address the game's field-of-vision perspective, following an intense bout of controversy over the way BioShock handles its widescreen display.

A title update to the Xbox 360 version will be released alongside the DLC, while the PC patch will come bundled with the content. Expect a patch list to be posted on The Cult of Rapture website here when the downloads go live.
