PomPom Games Announce Their First PSN Title: Astro Tripper

100°
322w ago - PomPom Games has revealed a PSN shoot-em-up called Astro Tripper. Once again, this is a retro-styled arcade game in the style of other horizontal side-scrolling shooters.

According to the official site, the game will promise "UFOS. Fat Motherships. Tanks. Choppers. Slimy Slug creatures. Alien Insects. Aztec structures brimming with electricity. And of course, Big Bosses!"

This PSN release is scheduled to release "soon", and will feature 1080p graphics, online leaderboards, and Trophy support.

From their site: Astro Tripper is a furious shoot-em-up experience inspired by the painful, knuckle busting experiences of years gone by. An evolution of PomPom's 2001 award winning game, Space Tripper.

Travel the surface of large horizontally-scrolling platforms, and pit your highly maneuverable craft against hoards of enemies eager to blow you to bits, eat you or worse.

Gameplay is simple. You are free to travel anywhere on the platform at anytime, but don't fall off! Powerful Blue Lasers and Red Spread Lasers come equipped, so use both weapons tactically to get through tricky situations. Power up your weapons with power crystals dropped by destroyed enemies. Oh, did we mention the blasting absolutely anything that moves?

PAIN Movie Studio Environment to Launch this November via PSN

50°
322w ago - Today Travis Williams (Sr. Producer, SCEA) revealed that November will an exciting month for PAIN fans as the the next environment, dubbed Movie Studio, is on the way. Basically it's their take on the wackiness of movie making, as the video below points out.

To quote: So to directly contradict my earlier statement ... PAIN development is (at least somewhat) a democracy. We have listened to what you wanted and tried our best to make sure all the things that you wanted are in this area.

That includes (but isn't limited to):

• More than one launcher location (There are three that you can dynamically switch to)
• Single Player Fun with Explosives
• New Cratetastic Mode
• Unlockable FREE Character
• HORSE Mode
• Bowling Mode (With all new distractions)

Movie Studio is the first area that we created after hearing all your input (democracy again). Amusement Park was started before PAIN was released (and took quite a while to make). Movie Studio was made in a third of that time, and I think it shows how much better we as a team have gotten at this since the original PAIN area.

We also have a new single player mode in the Lot called CRATETASTIC. I think you will love the mode...

Capcom-Themed PSN Store Coming in November, More to Follow

50°
322w ago - Capcom product manager John Diamonon revealed during a recent interview with Edge Online that a Capcom-themed PSN store will open this November. The store's layout will essentially be the same as Sony's, but with Capcom-specific assets and titles.

To quote: "Out of all of the third-party companies making use of the digital space, [Sony] recognizes Capcom is one of the best partners for content," said John Diamonon, product manager on all Capcom digital titles.

He said that Sony approached Capcom with the idea. "We're supporting PlayStation Network like no other company," Diamonon claimed.

Capcom expects the store to launch in early November. Diamonon acknowledged that other publishers will offer dedicated storefronts in the future.
