Silent Hill: Homecoming brings home several videos

50°
333w ago - We've got one video (directly below) and several more videos further down detailing different areas of Silent Hill: Homecoming.

While some may decry the game as an abandoned franchise by Team Silent, or a Me-Too title done by outsourced developers, you have to admit they've nailed the atmosphere pretty well. This is a Silent Hill game, but we can't really judge this type of game until it's been played through from beginning to bloody end.

Then thought about on a deep psychological level for several hours. Anyway, enjoy these videos, featuring lots of nurses and lots of dogs, then let us know what you think.

PixelJunk Eden featuring Trophy support

50°
333w ago - Several of PixelJunk Eden's details are on display over at the official PlayStation Web site. This is cool since we know very little about the game other than its artsy approach.

The game will feature 3-player co-op and will get a release this summer, but that's not exactly the most interesting ingredient in this pie. What we find most delicious is the listing of "Trophy support" -- an element being utilized in Home.

Anyway, the rest of the information is gameplay-related that we've mentioned before: swing around, collect pollen, advance.

Nintendo hit with $21 million Patent Infringement

50°
333w ago - Nintendo of America Inc. was ordered to pay a small East Texas gaming company $21 million Wednesday for infringing on a patent while designing controllers for its popular Wii and GameCube systems.

A federal jury found in favor of Anascape Ltd. in the lawsuit that was originally filed in 2006. Nintendo spokesman Charlie Scibetta said the company will seek an appeal and expects the court to reduce the award "significantly."

The jury found that Nintendo infringed on Anascape's patent while designing its Wii Classic, WaveBird and Gamecube controllers.

Scibettra said Nintendo was pleased no infringement was found with the motion-sensing technology used in its wandlike Wii and Nuncheck controllers, which mimic movements by users in games such as tennis and boxing.

Attorneys for Anascape did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Tyler-based Anascape also sued Microsoft Corp. for patent infringements on game controllers but reached an agreement with the company before the start of the trial against Nintendo, The Lufkin Daily News reported.

Microsoft said in a statement that terms of the settlement reached May 1 were confidential.

Sony considering external PS3 hard drive?

400°
334w ago - SCEE boss David Reeves has hinted that Sony may at some point consider releasing Official external PS3 HDD's.

"We launched with 60GB and to reduce the price we went to 40GB. We're not sure we want to stay with that configuration of hard drive, and I think what you're going to see in the future is maybe consumers can choose.

The PlayStation will stay the same, but consumers can choose whichever size of hard drive they want. They can now, or course, because it's not a proprietary hard drive." said Reeves.

To quote: "It might be that we will offer the possibility for people to have a bigger hard drive, but they have that option now.

But it does not mean that we have anything in the works to introduce a different model or bigger hard drive built in," added Reeves.

Gamers believe Rockstar is covering up PS3 freezing issue

250°
335w ago - A thread on the US PlayStation boards (linked above) about GTA IV freezing issues has now reached over 1,600 comments from angry gamers requesting a patch ASAP.

The forum members have been angered further as videos of the game freezing uploaded to YouTube have been removed due to a "copyright claim by Take 2 Games."

Many now believe Rockstar are now trying to cover up the issue. We did however manage to find one video of the game freezing from cooleyre as you can see below... how long it lasts is undetermined though. :P
