Video: PS Vita Hello World on PS Vita Firmware 2.60 Demo Arrives

300°
37w ago - A few days ago Sony released PS Vita System Software Update v2.60, and today The Z has shared a demonstration video of a PS Vita Hello World on PlayStation Vita Firmware 2.60 with details below.

To quote: PS Vita Firmware 2.60 was released yesterday by Sony, and, unsurprisingly, this firmware patches the latest VHBL exploit from Qwikrazor that we released for game Gamocracy: Legend of Robot on firmware 2.12 a few weeks ago.

But, and this will not be a surprise to those who follow this blog regularly, solutions still exist to run (PSP) homebrew on the latest PS Vita firmware 2.60. The Z proves it to us in the video below.

In the video, what we see is not a VHBL port but a “simple” hello world. This is the same code pretty much everyone has been using since the sparta exploit back in 2009, and, in case you’re wondering, we’re talking of course of a user mode exploit running inside the PSP emulator of the Vita. With the same possibilities as usual of seeing a port of VHBL coming one day to this exploit.

This is even less surprising...

To quote: It's been a long, long time coming, but we're so excited to announce that KickBeat will be available for download on September 3rd for both PS3 and PS Vita.

We heard so many of you asking for KickBeat on PS3, so we put our heads down, guzzled gallons of energy drinks, and just made it happen! Best of all, once you buy KickBeat on one platform, you get it free on the other! Two screens for the price of one.

If you're hearing about KickBeat for the first time, I welcome you to check out a few of our previous blog posts and trailers. And now, in the spirit of awesomely cheesy kung fu movies, we bring you this:

Stay tuned - in our next KickBeat blog post, I'll be showing you how to rock out to your very own tracks!

Sony PSP and PS Vita Sale Starts Today on PlayStation Network

50°
37w ago - Sony PS Store and Plus Content Manager Chris Howe announced that the next PSP and PS Vita sale starts today on PlayStation Network.

To quote: It's been quite a ride so far as we have worked our way through the consoles that have made the PlayStation brand a global phenomenon.

But our story would not be complete without taking a look at our handheld platforms. The PSP revolutionized portable gaming with amazing screen, robust multimedia capabilities and connectivity with our other Sony platforms. But what we all really love are games, and the PSP produced some real classics.

Our very own God of War: Chains of Olympus tops it for me but how can we forget Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, WipEout Pure and Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions. What a great library.

That brings us to our latest console, the PS Vita. Now in terms of lifespan, PS Vita is just a youngster, so what we want to know from you is what your best moments with it have been so far? This magical piece of kit is here to stay and it's only going to get better with the PS4!

Personally I love playing FIFA 13 on its crystal clear screen; it passes the time brilliantly on my journey to and from PlayStation HQ every day. I am also eagerly awaiting the release...
