Operation: (Warhawk) Omega Dawn

50°
333w ago - According to Dylan Jobe (Game Director, Warhawk): We've just finished development of our v1.2 patch and our first Booster Pack, Operation: Omega Dawn!... which is very different than "Red Dawn" or "Dawn of the Dead".

I'd like to give our blog readers a bit of info on our first downloadable content - and I'll try to keep in away from sounding to much like a sales-pitch filled with shallow marketing-speak. The team and I really wanted the Omega Dawn Booster pack to add a new gameplay experience and to enhance the replay value of the core Warhawk game. Not be some nickel-and-dime upgrade that takes advantage of our player community!!! (That's my own personal opinion on DLC so I'll get off my soapbox now)

So without further ado...

The Omega Dawn Booster pack adds 3 key things:

* A night-time battlefield with 6 layouts called the "Omega Factory". It's huge btw.
* New 7-player aircraft called the KT-424 Combat Dropship.
* And 5 updated bonus layouts for battlefields from the original game so that you can play using the new Dropship.

First let me ramble on about the new battlefield: Many of you all wanted a night time level so that's what we did. The battlefield takes place at night well... actually at early dawn. We wanted to...

BioShock Patches, Free Plasmid DLC to Hit Next Week

50°
333w ago - Publisher 2K Games sends word that a few BioShock patches will be released next week, in addition to a free downloadable content pack for the hit game.

2K community manager Elizabeth Tobey tells Shacknews that the DLC will at least include extra plasmids for players to mess around with, a way to disable Vita-Chambers for hardcore play, and bug fixes.

The patches will also address the game's field-of-vision perspective, following an intense bout of controversy over the way BioShock handles its widescreen display.

A title update to the Xbox 360 version will be released alongside the DLC, while the PC patch will come bundled with the content. Expect a patch list to be posted on The Cult of Rapture website here when the downloads go live.

Madden patch #2 released

50°
333w ago - The second and more significant patch for Madden 08 has been pushed live by Microsoft. Those with the 360 version will be prompted to download the patch as the game loads up. The PS3 version is expected to receive the patch soon as well. When is dependent on Sony but it is in their hands.

As previously reported the patch addresses the following issues:

Fumble Fix - Reduced fumble chances in certain situations. This has been tested thoroughly and we feel that people will be happy with a more realistic (and more fun!) number of fumbles. This was priority number 1 for us.

DB Reactions- changes to the way that DBs play man coverage. Defenders in man coverage won't be able to react to passes that they cannot see. This should make it easier to throw against man coverage.

Favre "Moonwalk"- I love the names that you guys come up with for issues such as this one. You can rest assured that you won't see Farve (or any QB) dancing toward the sideline anymore.

Hook Zone Flip Bug- I saw a post on a community forum talking about this bug and it turns out the fix was very minimal risk. You can now flip plays with hook zones without the players leaving their zones.

Franchise - Fixed NCAA import issue where players would turn 26
