326w ago - Media Molecule has unveiled the official boxart for the North American release of its highly anticipated PlayStation 3 exclusive, LittleBigPlanet.

As you can see from the image below, the boxart sports the now infamous 'Only On PlayStation' logo that was previously spotted on early covers for Insomniac's Resistance 2, though remained conspicuously absent from PAL release.

For those of you who have yet to plan to indulge in the compelling world of sack boy and co, be sure to check out our hands on preview to see what you can expect.

LittleBigPlanet is scheduled for release in October 2008.

327w ago - Thanks to Evander from NeoGAF, we have some details regarding the popular Kratos sackboy costume for LittleBigPlanet. First of all, the card is given to you immediately when you preorder in-store.

According the GameStop Web site, if you preordered online or you arranged for in-store pickup, your code will be e-mailed to you one week before the game ships. The code must also be redeemed by January 8th, 2009.

Lastly, like PSN games, each code will be associated with a PSN account -- which "allows download of the LittleBigPlanet in-game costume on 5 PS3 systems per account." Too bad you don't get five pouches to share with your friends, huh? To quote:

"Upon receiving your game, follow these instructions closely to download your new costume:

1. Open an account on the PLAYSTATION Network (or use an existing account) on your PS3.
2. From the PLAYSTATION Network icon on the Xross Media Bar, select 'Account Management'.
3. Enter 'Transaction Management'.
4. Select 'Redeem PLAYSTATION Network Card or Promotion Code'.
5. Enter promotion code. Please note that the promotion code is case sensitive and must be entered exactly as displayed.

Once the promtional code has been entered correctly click continue. Once you accept the terms you will be taken...

Confirmed: LittleBigPlanet IS region-free, worldwide content for all!

200°
327w ago - SCE has revealed that the producer of LittleBigPlanet wrongly told journalists that LittleBigPlanet will be region-locked, as previously reported.

Sam_Protagonist (SCE Development) just posted up "This is in fact not the case, and all shared levels in the game will be available worldwide."

To quote: Hi all, as many of you may have heard already in an interview at Leipzig the senior producer for LittleBigPlanet announced that the game is region locked.

This is in fact not the case, and all shared levels in the game will be available worldwide. The confusion arose out of regional differences in how moderation will work as there are different legal rules each region have to play by, and at one point this looked like it may require the game to be independent in each region - however this has been worked around and there will only be one region for the game.... a LittleBigRegion.

Apologies for any confusion over this issue, however I'm pretty sure you're happy with the result.

Sony: LittleBigPlanet User-Generated Content is Region Specific

300°
327w ago - LittleBigPlanet players will not be able to download levels created by players in other global territories, Sony confirmed to CVG.

During a presentation of the game at the Leipzig Games Convention today Sony's Pete Smith, who oversees operations at LBP developer Media Molecule, revealed that levels published on PSN by players will only be downloadable by people in the same region. So we'll not be able to download levels created by Japanese and US gamers.

The reason, he explained, is because each territory will have it's own dedicated server to which levels are uploaded.

"We've got regional servers," explained Smith. "But we can move levels around on servers whenever we want. But you won't have access to the Japanese servers," he added.
