Square Enix Hints Towards a Killer E3 2009 Showcase

50°
283w ago - Square Enix made a heck of a fuss at last year's E3. Its announcement at Microsoft's pre-show press conference that the highly anticipated then PS3 exclusive Final Fantasy XIII would also be coming to the Xbox 360 was the talk of the town.

Will the legendary developer be able to make as big an impact at the 2009 show? It would seem so.

To quote: We've received word on what Square Enix will be showing at the E3 event, and fans of two of their biggest series will be extremely happy with the media set to get far better access to some key products than we had initially hoped.

As much as we would like to tell you the specifics it has been requested that the names of the games be kept under wraps until the company has a chance to officially announce them. However, for the sake of excitement we thought we would give you the heads up so you can discuss it amongst yourselves.

We don't want to push our luck on this one, but there is no Square Enix press conference this year so you can expect an announcement prior to the E3 show regarding no less than three big surprise games which are currently unannounced - at least two of which are multi-format.

We wish we could tell you more, but knowing something is better than knowing nothing... debate below, but don't ask...

FFXIII Showing at E3, Huge Posters in LA and US Release Window

400°
284w ago - Square Enix members has finally had an update which shows the construction of some huge Final Fantasy XIII advertisements in LA, GTA style.

The posters clearly read "COMING 2010", which was fairly predictable. This also a nod towards an appearance at E3 and according to their post, they have "big things" planned.

To quote: Vanille, Snow, and Lightning from FINAL FANTASY XIII! Oh yes we did. A beauty, isn't it? We've been anxiously waiting for this day for months now, and to watch it finally materialize is a great feeling to say the least.

These photos were taken a few days ago, but it is now completed. If you're in the area, we suggest you go to the corner of S. Figueroa Street and Olympic Boulevard in Downtown Los Angeles, and look up. You really have to see it for yourself.

With E3 right around the corner, it's pedal-to-the-metal mode for us here at Square Enix, which means very late nights (or early mornings, depending on how you see it) and more fast food than you can imagine. There are some big things planned for you, so we're all excited about this year's E3. We've got a great lineup of products to show and word in the office is that our booth will be quite the sight.

No, I take that back. It's going to be AWESOME. It's a shame that we won't be able to share...

It has all the features any gamer could want. First off, it has a Showcase of games displayed in such a stylistic way with a catalog of games from great publishers such as EA, Take-Two and 2D Boy.

Second, the Friends pages are awesome, with their moving video captures and brag clips.

Third, the games stream amazingly fast and by the looks of it, there's no need to install since it's running off their server.
