Dead or Alive 3 joins Xbox download list

50°
346w ago - Dead or Alive 3 seems set to be one the first original Xbox games to be made available to download over Xbox Live, according to the PEGI website.

According to the latest ratings published by the pan-European age rating board, Team Ninja's beat-'em-up has been listed as an online game (essentially, one that requires an internet connection in order to access it - which includes downloadable games), and has been cleared for ages 16 and above.

Last week, Microsoft announced that as of 5 December, Xbox Live users would be able to download original Xbox games from the Marketplace. Although neither Microsoft nor Tecmo have confirmed that Dead or Alive 3 will be one of these games, the fact it's been rated by PEGI alongside Fuzion Frenzy (which will be among the first wave of downloadable Xbox titles) is a very strong indicator that it's coming very soon.

Despite not being in quite the same league as Virtua Fighter 5, Dead or Alive 3 was still a decent beat-'em-up. Better still, asides from some ropey FMV, there are few compatibility issues on the 360.

Whether you'd want to spend the equivalent of a tenner in Microsoft points on it when you could probably fish it out of a bargain bin for a fraction of that is another matter, but either way, you'll at least have the option.

MS giving away XBLA games

50°
347w ago - Microsoft has said you can get 10 free Live Arcade titles if you convince a friend to buy an Xbox 360.

If you have a chum who fits the bill, then pop over to the official site and fill out a festive form together. Just provide the serial number on both of your consoles and a sales receipt to show that your friend splashed out between 1st October and 14th December and you win.

Both of you will be given Every Extend Extra Extreme, Sonic The Hedgehog, Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting, Bomberman Live, Marble Blast Ultra, Spyglass Boardgames, 3D Mini Golf Adventures, Small Arms, Assault Heroes and Zuma Deluxe.

Given the Christmas line-up it shouldn't be too difficult to persuade them, either, but then we are WILDLY BIAS so don't listen to us.

Japanese Titles Come to Xbox Originals

347w ago - Can Jet Set and Panzer be far behind?

Coinciding with announcements made in America today, Microsoft Japan has unveiled its lineup of titles for the Japanese version of Xbox Originals.

In Japan, the new service will be called Xbox Classics, and will start off with five titles: Halo, Crimson Sky: High Road to Revenge, Magatama, Fable, and Puyo Puyo Fever. Pricing for these games is set at 1,200 Microsoft Points.

Of the five, the first four are from Microsoft, with the last, Puyo Puyo, coming our way from Sega. With Sega on board, perhaps we can look forward to big titles like Panzer Dragoon and Jet Set Radio in the future.

The Japanese service kicks off on 12/5.

BlackSite: Area 51 Blog - Multiplayer

50°
348w ago - Hello Everybody! My name is Josh Hamrick and I'm a game designer on BlackSite: Area 51. I've worked on a several pieces of the project, from game systems to the user interface. BlackSite as a whole has been coming along great and the team is definitely ready to get it out the door and into your hands.

We're extremely proud of some of the things we've been able to pull off for the game including the story, the characters and even our rail shooters which we think everybody is really going to dig. It was important to us as a team to put that sort of love into the campaign but also the multiplayer experience as well.

Today I'm here to fill you in on our competitive multiplayer. Being able to give you guys an update on BlackSite multiplayer means a lot as I've been playing FPS multiplayer since the early days of Doom. While I love single player games, multiplayer is what really gets me excited as a gamer.

I know many of you have been asking and commenting about our removal of the online co-op feature, and unfortunately we just weren't able to get that into the final game. But we do think we've been able to deliver a great multiplayer experience nonetheless, and do still hope that some of you will give it a chance.

We are well aware that there are a ton of gamers...
