"Update Love"
Going live later today is Update 1.09 - a bit earlier than expected, but we're sure you won't mind. This update contains some minor adjustments plus addresses the following bug fixes:

• 'Failed to save profile' message not being displayed when a user's profile is full.
• Object Capture Bug: switch connectors being deleted when an object is captured.
• Failed to load profile issue: where the user is thrown out to the XMB due to a texture that is not registered in their profile being present in their pod.
• Text not displaying in the text chat window.
• Slow rewind due to moderation check.
• Save file corruption which caused the game to crash when placing any object in an emitter in any level.

"Awards Love" from the development community
The past few weeks has been a humbling experience with news of numerous prestigious awards nominations from both the [Register or Login to view links] and [Register or Login to view links]. Congrats to the Molecules and SCEE.

PS3 Media Server v1.04 Update Now Available!

650°
291w ago - Another PS3 Media Server update is upon us, and to quote developer ps3mediaserver:

Here's the new version!... some explanations about the new "video copy" feature: in previous versions, you couldn't copy any transcoded videos on your ps3, due to a virtual size of 94gb... now it's possible, with this option enabled.

Be careful: if you want to use that feature, it's recommended to set a reasonable bandwidth limit in transcode options, because transcoded videos will have no fixed size, and you could fill up your ps3's hard drive pretty quickly with default settings !

LittleBigPlanet Patch 1.08 is Now Live for Sony's PlayStation 3

50°
292w ago - Update: The LittleBigPlanet Patch 1.08 patch, initially though to be 'Edam' by Media Molecule, was [Register or Login to view links] by LittleBigPlanet developer Sam_Protagonist to only contain update content as follows:

"The 1.08 update contains content only. The Edam update is still going through the testing process and we'll have more information about its release date once it's completed testing."

To quote: This patch has been confirmed as a content-only patch, installing the latest costume textures (required for players to see other people online who are using the latest DLC costumes).

We can confirm that this patch is 13Mb and we notice that it has re-arranged selected content in the LittleBigStore. This screenshot shows how the Kratos' costume now appears for players who've already downloaded it (the God of War pack icon showing the three costumes no longer appears to players who've not already downloaded it). This makes sense as the Kratos costume and God of War pack are out on Thursday.

We've heard reports of some players still having problems with LBP, so we're still not 100% sure that the patch is Edam - we'll report back when we hear confirmation.

PS3 Media Server 1.03 Update Now Available!

500°
293w ago - Over the weekend, ps3mediaserver has updated his application to PS3 Media Server 1.03 (Props to Massy for the news).

Windows users who own multicores processors will be pleased to know that this version includes a custom build of mencoder optimized for multicores and H264 content, based on the great work of the ffmpeg team.

Benefits? Recent CPUs are now fully used, rather than the usual 60-65% usage with the default mencoder build (that means a 30% performance gain on mine for example)... so you can almost ditch your CoreAVC/AviSynth installs.

Changelog v1.03:

- Customize encoding parameters (along with default ones) for any given container/codec/property combination (purpose: A/V sync, playback issues, and tweaking for advanced users)
- Ability to select networking interface
- OSX 10.4 Tiger support (Intel only)
- Settings reorganization
- M4V now streamed by default, you have to enter the #Transcoded#...
