GTA IV PS3 Patch 1.06 Released, Fixes Bugs and Load Times

253w ago - Today RockStar has released GTA IV PS3 patch version 1.06, which fixes several bugs and improves load times.

Issues fixed include the '50 friends list' bug, a number of glitches, and loading the game sequences with less lag.

To quote: The patch fixed some serious problems, read the list below:

• 50 Friends List bug fixed
• Online multiplayer game preferences (Friendly Fire, Auto Aim, Cops)
• Updated trophy list
• Apparently faster loading times everywhere, less lag
• Popular BDBII glitch fixed

Fat Princess PS3: Fat Fan Fare with the Arrival of Patch 1.05

253w ago - Today the Managing Producer Deborah Mars of SCEA's Santa Monica Studio has unveiled Fat Princess PS3 patch v1.05 details.

To quote: OK, we know it's officially Spring in most of the world, but we really just couldn't resist bringing a winter wonderland to Fat Princess PS3.

Today, March 25, we'll be releasing Patch 1.05 which now includes two new FREE snow-themed maps called Frost Bite and Candy Mountain.

We know many people have wanted new maps, and we're diligently trying to keep the community alive and together with these free maps.

And for those of you who have heard about Fat Princess and - gasp! - have not yet played it, now is your chance to grab the game and you'll get all of the original maps plus four additional maps for free!

We've also fixed a few issues recently brought to our attention:

• Warrior: Fixed to disallow shield activation when carrying objects, as well as attenuating damage against lava and drowning.
• Ice Mage: Changed level 1 area attack to slow enemies, not freeze them.
• Soccer map: Disabled online score saving for this level (sorry, all, but it was too easy to gain rank).

MAG PS3 Patch v1.04a Arrives, Changelog Details Available

254w ago - MAG's Jeremy Dunham has announced that the Massive Action Game has been updated today to PS3 Patch v1.04a, which includes the complete changelog as detailed below.

This latest patch addresses a number of balance-related housekeeping bits that should even the battlefields of Syr Daria Uplink and the overall Sabotage game type quite bit.

Besides an adjustment that's been made to all Sabotage player boundaries in an effort to put the kibosh on "spawn camping" exploits, v1.04a also adds a number of map-specific changes to S.V.E.R.'s Sabo homeland.

The map, which previously favored the defenders too heavily, is now much more contestable for attackers and defenders alike.

Gameplay

• Adjusted player boundaries to limit "spawn camping" exploits in Darien Network, Copper Hills Relay and Syr Daria Uplink maps.

MAG PS3 Patch 1.04 Incoming and Free Bonus Armor

255w ago - Today Jeremy Dunham has updated the official blog with details of the incoming MAG PS3 Patch 1.04, and he also shared news of free bonus armor.

To quote: First up is the availability of our pre-order bonus armor!

Originally offered as part of our incentive plan to those who purchased the game prior to its release on January 26, these special "medium improved" armor types and their faction-specific camo (Spyder for Raven, Hazard for SVER, and Bulldog for Valor) are now accessible to any and all MAG players in North America starting today, March 11.

The best part? They're all free! All you have to do is log on to the PlayStation Store after today's update and grab 'em when you see 'em. Once they've been obtained, your new armor can then be found in-game between the medium and heavy armor types when prepping your character in the loadout screen.

Expect it to take up 800ccs of your total capacity. Stay tuned for bonus armor release timing in other regions outside of North America in the near future.

But that's not all. We're also pleased to announce that the latest patch update is coming too! Available starting tomorrow, March 12, at 1am Pacific/ 4am Eastern/ 9am GMT, our new patch tidies up a few technical things while also addressing two bigger...
 

PS3 Glitch Finder v1.0 VHDL Design for Spartan-3 FPGAs Arrives

256w ago - Today modrobert has released PS3 Glitch Finder v1.0, which is a VHDL design for Spartan-3 (eg. xc3s400) FPGAs with the purpose of easily creating a custom pulse which can be used to glitch various hardware like the PS3 memory bus.

From the ReadMe file: The pulse LOW and HIGH multipliers have a resolution of 255 (X"FF") and can be set independently.

Features:

• Cycle exact pulse generator process tested with logic analyzer
• Digital Clock Manager (DCM) primitive @ 200MHz (5ns) with lock handling
• Continuous pulse or one-shot mode selectable via switch
• Debounce handling for push buttons to prevent erratic behavior
• Set the LOW and HIGH pulse length multipliers via buttons
• 7-seg LED display support showing HIGH and LOW pulse multipliers
