Here is a follow-up from Sony's Sr. Director of Promotions Ginger Kraus: Simply open up the Web browser on the PS3, and enter the following URL: www.youtube.com/tv (note: this link will not work from a PC or Mac, only from a PS3) and hit enter.

Now you're good to go! You'll notice a new YouTube interface that allows you to watch videos in full-screen. With enlarged text and simplified navigation, it makes watching YouTube on your TV as easy and intuitive as possible. Here's a helpful video that guides you through the process:

We're working closely with the YouTube team to make a more PlayStation-centric version of the YouTube TV Website page accessible from the lefthand menu bar (the YouTube button currently takes you to our branded channel on YouTube).

So stay tuned for that and in the meantime grab a cold one and sit back to enjoy your favorite videos on the big screen!

Happy watching,
Ginger Kraus

306w ago - Have you ever wanted to just sit on your couch and watch YouTube on your TV? Well, now that's possible via YouTube for Television, initially available through the Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii game consoles at [Register or Login to view links].

Currently in beta, the TV Website offers a dynamic, lean-back, 10-foot television viewing experience through a streamlined interface that enables you to discover, watch and share YouTube videos on any TV screen with just a few quick clicks of your remote control.

With enlarged text and simplified navigation, it makes watching YouTube on your TV as easy and intuitive as possible. Optional auto-play capability enables users to view related videos sequentially, emulating a traditional television experience.

The TV Website is available internationally across 22 geographies and in over 12 languages.

As [Register or Login to view links], YouTube has partnered directly with major TV and set-top box manufacturers to bring YouTube into the living room. Still, very few such devices today contain a Web browser or provide access to YouTube.

Our hope is that this site may help to accelerate an industry evolution towards open television access to Web video. Over time, we plan...

YouTube to Begin Selling Music and Video Games

50°
320w ago - Popular video-sharing site YouTube will soon begin to sell video games and music as part of a new advertising push, according to a Reuters report (linked above).

Through a partnership with Amazon.com, YouTube pages will feature a button that takes users to the online retailer, where they will be able to buy video games, songs, and music videos. The site will also offer an iTunes link for music downloads.

Acquired by search giant Google for $1.65 billion in 2006, YouTube is estimated to pull in $200 million via ad revenue across 2009, going by analyst predictions.

That figure marks a stark contrast to the Google's own advertising revenues, which are expected to reach $27 billion in 2009.
