303w ago - Gears of War 2 has made an appearance at E for All, and it looks like they have decided to show off the four player horde gameplay. A round of never ending locust madness can make you really piss your pants even when you have four other badass buddies with you.

Those baddies want you dead, and they will stop at nothing to get to you. One of the attendees at E for All captured some amateur footage of the horde gameplay, and I must say that this November I will be one busy gamer. Be sure to watch some juicy four player horde co-op below!

Japanese Psychiatrists Want Nintendo DS Game Pulled

50°
303w ago - The Japanese Association of Psychiatric Hospitals has reportedly asked InterChannel to pull the DS game Dementium: The Ward from distribution.

The game in question is a first person shooter that takes place in a psychiatric hospital in which various human science projects come after you and you must blow them away. The opposing group are concerned that the game may encourage prejudice against psychiatric patients.

To quote: The Japanese Association of Psychiatric Hospitals has reportedly asked Gamecock Media Group's Interchannel to pull the Nintendo DS game "Dementium: The Ward" from distribution.

"Dementium" is a first person shooter that takes place in a -- you guessed it! -- Psychiatric Hospital where various human science projects come after you, and you BLOW THEM AWAY.

Association advocates claim they're concerned that the game will "encourage discrimination and prejudice" against psychiatric patients. Are they crazy?

Free Radical asking fans where they want TimeSplitters 4?

50°
305w ago - TimeSplitters 4 could truly end up on any console. The previous TimeSplitters title ended up on the Xbox, PS2, and GameCube, so it is more than likely that Free Radical will follow up with a 360, PS3, and Wii release for TimeSplitters 4.

However, Free Radical wants to know what the fans are interested in - A poll is up and running on the company's Web site and is asking which console people wish to play the next TimeSplitters game on.

As of the time of writing, the Wii is leading the poll with 65% while the PS3 and 360 are trailing with about 15% each.

This poll could end up as being superfluous if Free Radical makes the decision to release TimeSplitters 4 on all platforms, but it would be interesting to know if the results will influence the development of the game in one way or another.

Intel wants Larrabee in Next Generation of Game Consoles

50°
310w ago - Computer chip giant Intel has told Develop that it hopes to convince console manufacturers that its Larrabee chip will be an ideal processor for their next generation of games hardware.

The Larrabee chip is a many-core processor that is primarily targeted at the graphics space but can also be used for other computing functions. It's Intel's latest cutting edge chip and has been in the works for some time.

Early engineering versions of the chip are expected to arrive later this year, while consumer products using the hardware will be available by 2010.

And speaking to us in an exclusive interview, Aaron Coday, manager of the EMEA visual computing group, said that Intel had been in the meantime working closely with a variety of games industry partners to work out what kind of next-generation GPU developers want - and that console manufacturers are next.

"We've been working with a lot of game developers. All of the input and design of Larrabee comes with the involvement of various software firms in the industry. It's very much driven by feedback from the industry, telling us the type of things they would like to do, and how can they do them," explained Coday.

"It's definitely something we would want to discuss with the console vendors, and hope...

PSN helps find stolen PS3, Unwanted Xbox 360 the replacement

50°
310w ago - The fiance of Dustin Waller bought him a second hand PS3 from a store in Cleveland, but little did she know it was infact a stolen system. However, the police were able to track the system whenever Waller turned on the system as the original owner of the PS3's PSN ID was still stored on the system. The police confiscated the system and Waller was compensated by the store with an unwanted Xbox 360.

To quote: Police appeared on Waller's door after the purchase, and they inquired as to how he had come across the system. According to the Salisbury Post, the police were able to track the system whenever Waller turned on his system.

The original owner of the PS3's PSN ID was still stored on the system, and it was set to auto-login when the system turned on. By tracking Waller's IP address, they were able to find him.

Waller is of course innocent in the whole debacle, but police confiscated his system nonetheless. While the police look for the person who sold the stolen system to the games shop, Waller was given compensation from the store he didn't want: an Xbox 360.

"Waller is appreciative of the offer from the store but notes the Xbox isn't nearly as expensive or sophisticated as the PlayStation."
